Light-painting is always interesting and here you have captured it very well. You should try it with a different background, because this one here just doesn't give anything to the image.

I'm always impressed by lightpainting, it requires planning, creativity and patience... Cool photo, congrats!

Is the EXIF data right? This says this is that shutter time was 4 seconds, but in the sky, the stars show a trail, and with 4 sec on a 24mm lens you should see none... either the EXIF is wrong or your tripod is not very stable (maybe the wind you talked about). If it's the tripod, it's worth checking.

As a suggestion, I would show a bit more of the sky (to the right) and have the light paint more off center, following more the 2/3 rule and avoiding the left area which is too dark to make anything out of it.

Thank you! Haha, actually didn't bring a tripod down here because we were shooting portraits and i didn't expect to do any light painting. I just placed the camera on the dock, turned on two-second timer, and set the shutter speed to 4 seconds. The wind probably moved my camera a bit, which is why the stars have some motion blur.

From comment month!

Really neat photo! I love the sharp focus on the light. I wonder if there was a way to sharpen/make the background less blurry and more in focus as well since it seems to be moving a lot? Then again it kind of adds to the beautiful light circles. Great shot overall!

Thank you The movement in the background was due to wind! Unfortunately, not much can be done to combat that, except for shooting on a clearer day.

Thank you! Tripod or a stable surface works best for light painting
