Description This is a stargate from Stargate Universe!
My fastest build so far, it's been almost four days since the first vertices were put in place.

I'm quite proud of it so far, most likely if I'm to do anything further with it I would mess with the textures a bit but other than that it's definitely finished.

Most of the details are modeled, just a few things were textures because they would have been insanity to model. i.e. the glyphs.

Modeled and rendered in Blender.

In closing, Huzzah!

So, any updates?
Now that the code is done, we would need the model, if you want to share it!

I've got it in what I hope is a workable state, but I've never uploaded a model so I don't know how to do that.
Alternatively, I could email it to you or something similar if it isn't possible to upload via deviantArt.

Well, please e-mail it to me, to fonix232 [at] gmail [dot] com (I hope you get it, its for anti spam!)
You can upload models here I think, but IDK how...
Oh and please could you send me both models? The high detail, and the low-poly one too?

Got your email, thanks for the models!

Well, as I see, there are two things what makes it hi-poly: those drawings between the chevrons, and the line around the glyphs.
IDK, but maybe they can be done with heightmaps aka normal maps

Oh by the way, does your gate have a backside too?
And what have you made wrong? I think it is perfect and almost 100% perfect!

It has a backside, but I can't remember if it's the same as the front or not.

IMO, it's too thin, and the outer part of the ring needs more (better) details.
Also, the overall texture of the gate needs some TLC.

Hm, make a try...
could you send me the model with all the materials?
Any Blender format is good, I've just downloaded it (I haven't ever used it before, but I see that it can export to 3ds) and I will give it a try...

WoW, looks nice!
Will you release it?

I have a few details to fix now that I've seen more of the show and have a better sense of what the gate is supposed to look like, but after that (or even before if you're impatient ) I'll try my hardest. However, you'd need blender or a program that can import .blend files if you want to do anything with it.

Well, I think there is an addon for 3DS max what can make my app import blend files...

I hope you stay low-poly, because I want to compile it into a game called Gmod...

Um, this is by no means low poly, at least by my interpretation. however if a lower poly version would be appreciated I would be happy to give it a shot.

It's intended for still shots and possibly (definitely) made for animation. As for being a game model, yeah, it'd have to be much much leaner than it is right now.
