Hi Ted!
I wanted to do a feature on the colour red in my journal this week and it just wouldn't have been complete without your input. Just wanted to let you know... you've been featured here... [link]

Yes, this is exactly the color I saw. Wouldn't this one and Ollie make a nice duet?

very nice macro...

i didnt realize your lens could get that close in... impressive...

this would look much better in a smaller size... but i figure you know that...

very cool DOF and for that

He's sure pretty. A bit more depth would have been nice, but you did pretty good considering the factors you had to contend with. It's such a great macro -- I love the droplets on his face.

The depth of field is very short due to the quite-close macro, dim lighting (in the rain), and the need to keep the shutter speed high enough (hard to tell from DA's automated parsing of the EXIF, but it was 1/62) to stop the little critter in his tracks -- he was in contant motion as I followed him around in the middle of a (fortunately, not very busy, and I had spotters) road. No flash!

"Red eft" is the name for a young newt. See MS Encarta for more info: [link]

Beautiful color. Cute how the drops formed on its face, I also like the resolution of this shot.

Red eft? I thought it was a salamander. Either way, very nice shot! I personally would have preferred it if the picture wasn't so blurry as it was, but you did capture the face of the animal clearly, and since that seems to be what you were aiming for in the first place, I can't complain. Very nice!

I've just replaced that huge image with a more normal 750-pixel +borders size.
