This is a beautiful shot, I love how the drops of water look.

The depth of field is very short due to the quite-close macro, dim lighting (in the rain), and the need to keep the shutter speed high enough (hard to tell from DA's automated parsing of the EXIF, but it was 1/62) to stop the little critter in his tracks -- he was in contant motion as I followed him around in the middle of a (fortunately, not very busy, and I had spotters) road. No flash!

Thanks, folks!
"Red eft" is the name for a young newt. See MS Encarta for more info: [link]

Beautiful color. Cute how the drops formed on its face, I also like the resolution of this shot.

Red eft? I thought it was a salamander. Either way, very nice shot! I personally would have preferred it if the picture wasn't so blurry as it was, but you did capture the face of the animal clearly, and since that seems to be what you were aiming for in the first place, I can't complain. Very nice!

I've just replaced that huge image with a more normal 750-pixel +borders size.
