Description So say what you want about lord of the flies
but i
LOVED IT!
okay okay i know what your thinking....
which is
WHAT THE HELL YOU THANATHOPIC FUCK
but it was written so well
i was blown away at the plot and the writing
the last chapter truly showed the horror and mental torment Ralph went through
This is one of my particularly favorite scenes though
and possibly the most symbolic moment in the book
When simon *my fav character* has been starring at the sacrifical offering pig head and he starts to hallucinate thinking the pig covered in flies is talking to him
and the conversation that goes on inside his head is yes very insane but that is the single turning point in the book
that sparks all the awfulness to come
when simon realizes that
there is no beast
that the beast is inside all of them
and to be very afraid of that beast
because it is about to be unleashed
This is why i liked simon
he had the sort of reasoning that had to be deciphered not just assumed
another side note
* i hate how all the LOTF fanart protrays the boys with short hair, when they have been on the island for weeks and it talks about how there hair is getting long and them constantly needing to brush their bangs out of their faces

i really like this piece of art, its so well done. And its of one of my favriote parts of the book too, simons so so cute... As for the hair thing you said in the comment i always was a tad confussed on the whole hair length not being long too, unless i was looking at fanart of jack or Roger, they always seem to have long hair in fanart, but only really them, anyhow great picture.

i actually looked for it at the book store recently but went and got myself distracted and ended up buying other books and not remebering the authors last name, so since im half way through Oliver Twist and finished the other book i bought i think i'll go look for that book again, im so bad when it comes to books i always walk out with five and none of the ones i went in for, oh well. Soon i'll read it, i want too. Next time i'll look up the author before i go, lol

hahahaha! i always go into borders with a deliberate mindset and one book in mind andi sorta put the blinders on and plow through till i find my book, then i have encourage myself not to look for other books i might pick up and buy because my mom rages hardcore if i have more then one book

ha i love borders, but the big one in my ton shut down, best anyways though as my Aunt refused to get me a borders card so instead got me a loacl book store card... of 75 dollars, i spent like fourty or something in my saturday trip and walked out with a book on useless information, catcher in the rye, Oliver Twist, and Lowboy... i was goign to get The Book Theif and Theif Lord... neither of which i obviously bought, oh well i still got money on that gift card yet lol. my mom incourages me to get lots of books to read, i still actually have like four or five in a series im reading that i need to read and have already bought but my favriote character just died... so i think ill wait awhile lol

that always happens to me! every charactr i love always dies and im like
WOW COOLLLLLLLLLL
it happened with the book theif too and for the first time i actually cried because of a book
the book thief just gets you so into the characters
and wow that really sucks
they just closed our huge borders in saratoga which is fine because that was a hike to get over there anyways and we still have our borders next to 16 handles!
thats always a good day
spent at 16 handles *AMAZING frozen yogurt place* then head over to borders
i tend to just like the smell of the place and seeing all the books
its so overwhelming but thrilling too in a way
my parents sorta turned me into a book lover and i love them for it but all my friends are like
I NEVER READ WHY ARE YOU TAKING ME INTO BORDERS
and im like SHUSH just let me enjoy this for a moment

i hate the kindle and ereader things
i need to physically be able to turn the pages and feel the heaviness of the book in my hand XD

Ha yeah i know how that can be. my favriote characters die often too, or else turn out to be evil... i choose badly i guess, often times i'm like oh this character remindes me of myself, then they turn out to be like evil or something and im like "bummer" lol my favriote characters in a book called Peace Breaks Out, one died and the other turned out to be pretty evil. I cried when my favriote character died in that book actually, i think it was the first time not sure.
Yeah we still have our Borders Express here in Capitola, but they closed the big one down in Santa Cruz which i liked a bit better but oh well, we had like four book stores down there so now its like three down there or something, and two here... i have loads of choices, its nice...
I love frozen yougurt! we have a frozen yougurt place but i dont know its name... good yogurt though.
My mother was always a book lover... dad not so much so, but the first word i learned to speel was book thanks to my mom so... i think i got her book love, my friends are all very into literature too though so we spend hours at borders and book stores.

I hate thoose things too! they frustrate me and the screen seems like it'd hurt my eyes to read off of plus i mean how can one have an old fashion clue library with ebooks. there just wonderful things about books are just too good to switch over, i mean even there smell is wonderful

wow long reply is long, sorry

nahhh i dont mind i enjoy them!
i now what you mean! i just need to feel the thickness of the book in my hand and when i close it see how far it is unti lthe end or be able to flip back to a page
its just an aspect of technology that i dont like
sure it has its benefits but id rather not use one
someone was reading from a kindle on the bus next to me and i was reading my big ol hunkin book theif *im still not done ive got about 100 pages to go its pretty lengthy* and id look over at the kindle and i start to play with the pages in my fingers a bit and like smooth over the cover and then i was like yep i need to be able to do that else i wont like reading it
like i really wish i read peoples online stuff more
but i really despise reading off a screen so i end up getting sick of it XD

Ok so whats the ship breaker about? and yeah Borders does sometimes have real nice deals so maybe they'll have some.
Regents? Well hmmm, I rarely study for anything, but i do read alot so.... i vote read, lol, no studying is probably better. I myself am just floating in shool untill i graduate in June, yay for doing nothing, lol.
I'm dying of Book Starvation at the moment, damn i even have books to read, i just missplaced it...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TeezGeez In reply to SpiralClue [2011-05-11 02:47:42 +0000 UTC]

THe ship breaker is like a Dystopian sorta novel i got it from the library today and i just started reading it. What ive gathered so far is that its about a boy named Nailer who tears about old oiler ships for a living, but then again im only like 4 pages in so who knows XD.
and Regents are the stupid state exams only the state of New York gives for some reason
and its required to pass them and to obtain a regents or advanced regents deploma before graduating
its like the SATS but in every subject specific to the subject you did that year
therefore i will have a Geometry Regents, A Global History Regents, and a Biology regents. we dont take the english regents until next year and i need to take my language regents next year as well
it gets us off two weeks earlier than the middle schools and elementaries but those two weeks are spent dilegently studying most of the day for the tests XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpiralClue In reply to TeezGeez [2011-05-12 06:10:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh i see. my dad came from new york, he said he passed math or soemthing because he passed the regents exam even though he was failing the course or something i dont know the full story just something around that. Here in California we barely do any tests, we have STAR tests but thats about it. No one even studies... Oh wait theres the CASHEES too... or something like that that we need to pass to gruadute highschool but we only take thoose sophmore year. DAmn i couldn't imagine taking a bunch of tests to gruaduate, my school didnt even make me take higher then algebra or another language to gruaduate... which screwed me over but whatever thats what jr colleag is for i guess. Well i hope you pass your Regents. And i hope that book turns out to be good

TeezGeez In reply to CuriousRuby [2011-04-15 00:09:51 +0000 UTC]

i HIGHLY reccommend the book theif
it is written fabulously
and if you like darker stories this would fit that
it starts off in Nazi germany 1939 focused around a young german christian girl named Liesel who cant read or write and has been put into fostercare after her mother couldnt afford ot take care of her anylonger and on the trip their her brother dies on the train from an unknown cause.
It is told from the Perspective of death and if you dont mind a longer read its a really great.
Along with the Help
there both sort of History oriented but extremely interesting
THe Help switches from different view point to view point the three main ones being
Abelene- black housemaid when racism was at its highest
Minnie- another black housemaid with a fiesty temper constantly loosing her job
Skeeter- a white girl who writes the cleaning tips section of the newspaper and has Abelene help her because she actually has no idea how to clean or so girlish things
And basically Skeeter becomes rapped up in the Racism that all her friends show towards their housemiads when Skeeter loved her housemaid when she was little and wants to help them
and its just an awesome book
the writing is so amazing and it keeps you gripped to the novel and wanting to read more
it takes a while to pick up and get into but once you are your hooked
