Description
The 5th annual Novus Imperium sketchdump. It's a bit late and a bit sparse this year. Technological problems pretty severely impeded my productivity in the latter half of 2017, and I hadn't done a ton of NI work in the first half of the year. I've just about got things sorted out over here, so I'm hoping for a much more productive 2018.Novus Imperium; characters; artwork ©

God, your work in Sci-Fi is so wonderful, I'm always pleasantly surprised whenever I see a notification for it, and your design for Reina is one of my favorite designs of anything, ever. It conveys so much personality while looking sleek and cool as hell.

I had a hunch and scouring your gallery seems to confirm, I'm not sure we've seen Reina in combat outside of isolated action poses. I'm not that great at showing my Elemental ladies doing their work either, but yeah, take that as a request

That's one direction I could go with it. I'm definitely more of a world-builder than I am a story writer, and that lines up well with how TTRPGs are usually put together.

AW that's pretty cool, the body suits are basically a second layer of disposable muscle and skin tissue. Amazing concept!

Essentially correct, at least in the case of the KAIROS bodysuits. The thing that really sets them apart from standard bodysuits is their neural interlink and the tactile sensory layer seen in the diagram. The tactile net doesn't have the same degree of sensitivity as organic skin or the KAIROS' cybernetic limbs; it mostly just senses pressure, and it has a relatively low cut-off ceiling for how strong of a sensation it can transmit (this prevents the wearer from being overwhelmed by sensation when the bodysuit absorbs strong impacts like long falls or gunfire).
