A sloppy reference sheet for a commission I'm having done by the glorious Jenna Delle. ^^ She wanted to draw Lucuronue but I don't have a proper ref sheet for her, so I slapped this together. Not real happy with it, especially since she looks more feline than weasel-like. In the face I mean. And her markings are rushed and I'm still trying to figure out a decent way to draw feathered wings without getting too detailed. x.x BUT ANYWAY.Hopefully I'll get a chance to redo hers as well as Barachus' one day and actually get their features right...Or get to do it. >_> Hmmmm....decisions.

I really love the anatomical design and the idea ofΒ mustelid-based dragons. Do you mind if I create one myself? Of course, I wouldn't use her coloring and patterns, and I won't use anatomical characteristics like her wings and hood if you'd rather keep that for your character specifically.

You don't have to ask me if you want to make mustelid-based dragons. XD I don't own them. In fact, in a few old, old paintings, dragons often had a mustelid shape to their body including plantigrade feet. That's actually where I got the inspiration from.Β
As for the hood and wings, again I don't own those features. I'd only really have a problem if you made a dragon that looked EXACTLY like her, including colors and everything, but I don't think you will. c: So have fun!
Oh, and I commissioned Sardiryx for a much better ref sheet of Lucu a while back. I'd recommend reffing her anatomy if anything since she's a lot better at it than me. XDΒ skysealer.deviantart.com/art/Lβ¦

I saw the reference Sardi did and I have to say, this is one of the most beautiful and unique designs I've ever seen. There are so many dragons out there it can be really hard to make one that is so refreshing new, but this one certainly is. I love her wings! And that hood!

I saw skysealer's reference sheet made for you and I think its wonderful. This character is really awesome and the design is great , but I noticed that Lucy swallows her kill whole like a snake does, but in order to keep from suffocating she needs to have her wind pipe elongated to the base of the tongue so she can breath while swallowing. I don't want to be a badger but its just something I notice.

The cobra-esque hood is an unlikely adaptation for a winged creature.

I doubt she'd be trying to use it while going full speed in flight and risk breaking her neck. She can control it. Admittedly, Lucy is far more aesthetic than functional.

I was thinking that a creature with wings would already have a size-aggrandizement mechanism (unfurling its wings), and would be unlikely to evolve a secondary mechanism.
I like the mustelidragon concept, though.

Thank you. ^^ And I suppose it is a bit of overkill, and I did think about the practicality of it, but Lucy actually started out as a sketchbook doodle, and I liked the thought of her having the hood. She was fun to draw that way and nature is full of odd little quirks like that. Also considering she lives in a world where there are creatures much bigger and more dangerous than her, anything to make her look more intimidating or bigger than what she is would help.
Cut me some slack, guy, lots of times my logical mind often interferes with my creative so I'm just trying to have some fun with my designs. X3

that is beautiful. i LOVE those light markings. so cool! i can see what you mean about the feline in the face perhaps if there was no real transition of brow ridge into the muzzle would help. Weasles are flatter there than cats. [link]
Feathering wings is a little harder. maybe this tutorial can help

lmao I know I'm no Rembrandt, but I know what you mean! I would give a kidney and probably a lung too for Sardi to do a sheet for me...Hmmm...I do have a commission coming from her but it'll be a little while anyway so perhaps I could upgrade it? XD I was going to have her do a speedpaint of Barachus, my drake.
