Description Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop on what is for her, unfortunately, an all-too-typical day. Done for A-Kon to prove that yes, I can draw chicks in addition to blokes. Pen and ink for the linework, Painter 7.0 for the coloring, Photoshop for the rain. My first time doing rain, too, so don't be too harsh. The rain, newspaper, and poster added after careful consultation with you, the Teeming Masses, over in my scrapbook here .

I usually blather on for a lot longer but really, I don't have anything more to say.

Wowsomes, I really like how you did the colour scheme, not to mention the authenticity of Fey. The newspapers are quite the far side of incredible also. Great job

I actually really like the rain, I wouldn't have guessed it was your first time to do it! I love the coloring and the newspapers especially

Well, I can safely say that the thumbnail does this absolutely no justice. The colors look great in full-view, and I love how wet it all looks. Definitely did a good job with the rain.

And Faye's expression. She looks like she's thinking, "If Spike doesn't pick me up RIGHT NOW I'm going to shoot him in the balls." >.o

Hmm. Now, you know I love your work, but I gotta say, this isn't one of your best. The background looks fantastic (the detail into all of those plants is certainly a nice touch!) but the character honestly seems a little out-of-place. Partly, I think, because her outfit and colouring doesn't really go with the rest of the picture - for a dark, gloomy day she seems remarkably saturated and well-lit. Another part of it might be that she isn't interacting with the rain much - though you do have some (to your credit - a lot of people ignore this entirely) drops bouncing off her head and the newspaper, having some on her legs or arms would make it seem much more realistic.

All in all a good picture, much better than a lot of artists could do, but (like I said) not one of your best.

Plus, I just noticed that this was your first time doing rain, too. So really you get bonus marks for doing so well. ^^

I go in cycles. I produce something killer, and then my next few pieces aren't as good. The A Place to Relax Jiraiya/Tsunade pic was a killer one, but I haven't produced anything killer until today's Sanzo pic. I've got a lot of good feedback on the Naruto/Harry Potter crossover, but it's got some major problems with it. But every cylce averages just a little bit better than the previous one. It's like in my figure drawing class - I still produce a lot of crap, but if I compare the crappy sketches I"m doing now to the crappy sketches I was doing a year ago, you can see that they're better.

The problem with the colors in Faye is that stupid costume. It's almost impossible to soak yellow and red down enough to make it match a sombre mood.

I hear ya. I think every artist has good days (or weeks or whatever) and bad days. I haven't been able to do anything I'm really happy with in a while. (Though that's in part due to a lack of time.)

I've discovered a reallys trange thing with my figure drawing class -- whenever I've had to take a few weeks off of it, I come back *better*. It's like the enforced inactivity or concentrating on somethng else kick-starts it. Weird.

I've always wondered just how she moves her arms with her jacket down like that. Weird. Anyhoo, nice job, this really turned out nice. Good job on the rain.

Let me just start by saying that I HATE Faye! I don't know why she is so popular! But I love this picture. Since the entire crew has about the same luck, this could easily be made into a group affair. Then I'd get Jet in there to make it even better! Anyway, still an awesome pic!

Well I think it came out very well. I like how you did the rain as well, but in case you want to know, here's a link that gives a method for making rain here [link] I can't tell, maybe you did use this method...so...yeah

Anyway, again, very nice job. I hope I didn't come across as too forward by providing the link, because I know that you are much more talented in coloring in photoshop than I.

Thank you! No, that wasn't the method I used, and that one would probably have given me a better result. I just made a lot of 1-pixel lines, then erased at random.

Excellent. As stated already, the expression is priceless. Only minor crit I have is maybe fading the background further back as the rain drops layer with distance. Just a minor detail... one I know I'd try myself and most likely fail at.
Good stuff. Can't wait to see your display at Akon.

Yay!!! you finished it...i love the rain and the torn up newspaper next to her (sorry i notice all the cool little things) he he...but yes...her expression suits her...and i like that she's just sitting there chilling with her gun...although i'd be scared to go near her if it wasn't her day..you never know what could happen if she's got the gun in her hand and she's pissed....well anyways great work...i like it so much i gotta fav it!!!!

thanks! I added the poster and newspaper, and thought about putting copie sof the poster up on a wall behind her, and about putting in a couple of figures staring at her and walking faster or soemthing, but then I decided I'd rather get it *finished*.
