OMG, btw, if you get a chance to look at my gallery I did a whole lot of Farael drawings this month while you were gone... I hate to sound like I'm shamelessly whoring myself but you always seem quite pleased when I do pointless Farael stuff.

LOL... he definitely does make her happy, but only when he's not SERIOUSLY trying her patience. He's quite adept at dancing along that very fine line...

And I'm really glad you like them. I wasn't really sure any of these were too good, but I just felt (irrationally) like I needed to post SOMETHING. XD

He is not actually on her crew. He's captain of his own ship, the Olympias... while the two of them were together, though, he'd been temporarily mutinied against and so is currently trying to get it back. Presumably that's what he ran off to do after Farael kicked his golden ass across the Issverold tundra.

I'm sure it did... What actually happened with the crew of the Olympias was that they didn't really take too kindly to the fact that Pirossa basically whored out the ship to the Imperial Navy during a really huge crucial battle to save his own ass, sooooo overthrow. And yes, Farael did indeed show up just in time to save his girl, kick some ass, and look gorgeous while doing it. *swoon*

THANKS!! Yeah, I love me some sketches. That particular one... I don't know if I'm planning to work that up. I theoretically could, but honestly I don't think the composition is that great. It's too tall and thin for what I was picturing. Maybe I'll redraw it on bigger paper?

How big are most of your sketches? You could shelve the idea for that sketch and work up a more agreeably composed version later, if you felt like it. No point finishing something you aren't 100% on.

Usually I work in a little book with 6"x8" pages. Lately, though, the format has felt a little constraining for me-- it's weird, my sketching size seems to kind of expand and contract in weird ways that aren't really connected to much I can perceive. Sooo I've been tentatively going back and forth between the book and normal 8.5"x11" pieces of printer paper. I do like to keep it small enough that I can fit it comfortably on my (teeny) scanner bed.

Wow - I would find it impossible to draw on 6x8 - I like drawing big and have to constrain myself to A4! But if you're constrained by scanner size, well, respect the scanner, man!

I actually did both of those ones you mentioned in the last couple days, right around the same time. I think I was in a Rian/Pirossa mood.

I can definitely see why you're confused. She does get around. Farael is her One True Love or whatever (), and they were together for a time, but circumstances forced them apart, and during that time she was with Dalton and then Pirossa. Then, of course, she got back together with Farael and they're staying together now. Does that help any?

I was actually just telling someone that Rian and Pirossa are conceptually VERY fun but alas, I've never been able to resolve a finished drawing of the two of them together-- even that one finished wedding one was actually a composite of two totally separate drawings! Pirossa seems to refuse to be tied down even on paper. (Lord knows how he'd handle marriage, which he seemed so keen on at that one point. )

And AWWWWW. Thank you much, and I'm so glad you like them. Inspiration? Really? Gah, I'm not inspirational. Just obsessive.

Well, I did do them one after the other at the exact same time so the style's consistent. But yeah, otherwise they're totally unconnected. Putting them together on the same picture was a BITCH. XD Even now they still look like they're too far apart, but this was as close as I could get the two figures without them looking like they're standing on different planes.
