Description HAPPY VALENTINES, dA!!

Good LORD this one took me a long time!! Those of you who came to my Livestream the couple times I've done it would have seen this when it was in progress, and the last time I streamed (more than two weeks ago!) I finished the figures... but I held off on the background until just now, because backgrounds...

ANYWAY, to interrupt my flood of vampire spam, here's some good old-fashioned space-pirate-flavored goo with Rian and Pirossa, the Ruby Mockingbird and the Gold Corsair. And what's that back there?! THE SUN?!?!? I thought it had disappeared forever... I figured it was well past time to give some older characters their due, I've neglected them FAR too long. Hoping you all have a very happy Valentine's Day, whether you're single or taken or whatever. 'S all good!

It's so great to see these guys again, I missed them (still am). I REALLY like the limited palette here. It gave a sense of unity to the colours without having to resort to an entirely warm/cool/monochromatic colour scheme (as I often do). And their faces look gorgeoouuussss. Seeing them now makes me think you've improved a lot in drawing faces since the last time you drew them! o.o Especially Pirossa, he looks so handsome And those clouds, OMG. I have such an awful time painting them and yours look so natural!

Aw, yay! I clearly missed them too, hehe! And Rian's been VERY patient lately, lol! I'm glad you like the colors. Honestly, I tend to choose them without a lot of rhyme or reason. I lay them down on a background of existing color, and I just do the flats in relation to how they look next to the background. Often I end up changing the color of the original background entirely. Oh man, I totally don't know what I'm doing. But thank you much, I'm glad you think I've gotten better at faces! If nothing else, the SA plotline has kind of forced me to at least do different types of faces (well, I guess technically Leland's not that different than my usual, but Claris is!), and taking a more realistic approach has kind of helped in all areas. Whee!

As I've said before on the LS, was cool to see how U improve in coloring and anatomy. Both look lovely, I like how their skin glows. And sure, detailed BG works amazing up here.

Hehe, thank you! I'm so glad you like the final outcome of this one! The background definitely gave me trouble, but I think it was worth it, since it really felt like it demanded something more than a texture.

Thanks!! His tattoos are SUCH a pain to draw, because they're complicated and symmetrical, so I tend to avoid drawing him like the PLAGUE. Which is terrible, because he's a fun character... just a bit of a chore sometimes.

You know, looking at this makes it all so clear how much you've improved since i first started to watch you. The way Rians face seems to glow with that delightfully mischievous yet pleased look on her face. you can tell right there how much of an adventurer she is, how fun and playful she is! I alsso love that star struck look on Pirossas face, it really makes me think that he has the hugest thing for her, maybe something that goes a bit deeper then previously thought. I love the colors you have here, they are all so rich and they just fit the overall warmth and playfullness of the image as a whole.

Your lines are just SOOO amazing in this! beautiful work

Oh wow, thank you so much! I'm really pleased you think I've improved, sometimes I wonder. I like your theory about Pirossa having a huge thing for her!! I've always kind of suspected he might, even though he'd never admit it unless he was trying to be facetious. In another place, in another time, they would've been fantastic together... if also a little on the dysfunctional side.

The lines... guh. I almost never bother to do digital lines! They often have a really nice effect, but I'm not always certain the sheer amount of extra time (often two or three hours on top of the time it takes to do a pencil drawing) is worth it. Some pictures, though, really seem to demand the extra cleanliness. Either way, I'm so glad that you like it! Always a pleasure hearing from you.

I think these two are a favored pair of mine, simply because they seem to compliment each other so beautifully (from what i've seen). I dont know, i think its just because the gold with the blue meshes so nicely with her red that I get all like GWAH COLORS SAY GO FOR IT!

I feel your pain on that one. I really.. Hate digital inks. and sometimes pencil lines just give it so much character you know?

And it's finiiished! Yay! It looks absolutely beautiful! The colours especially. It's been so long since I last saw you draw some sunlight.
Ryan and Pirossa look adorable! It actually looks like they have been playing tag. Which is so cute. And their faces are gorgeous and I loooove their clothes. <33333 The folds look great and I absolutely love the colouring. Not just on the folds but everywhere else too. The purple shading on their skin has really caught my eye. It gives the drawing a sunsety look and me really loves sunsets!!
