So lovely!! I love their expressions, especially in the eyes, they look so dear! ;_; All in all this is a super delicate and romantic scene, down to the flower frame (which looks absolutely gorgeous), and I highly approve of that!

He looks like dark elf Dalamar from the "DragonLance" book series. Fine.

I've never read the Dragonlance books, although they've been recommended a bunch of times and people keep telling me they're great. I should really get on it one of these days!

Aw, thanks much! You know, it's weird, I love floral borders but I've never actually used one before! Normally I'm much too lazy, hehe. I'm so glad you like it!!

I love how delicate and romantic this is! Bravo, my dear. *applauds*

BTW, have you had a chance to look at "Greenwood" yet?

Ah, thank you!! I was surprised by how quickly this one came together. Every now and again, they do that.

I haven't, actually, although admittedly part of it is my inability to focus on reading long texts on computers. (Hell, I don't even understand Kindles, although they seem to be the big thing. ) It's still saved, though, so sooner or later I'm going to get to it.

I hope it's sooner rather than later, so I can hear what you think about the Sheriff of Nottingham character!

RLY?? Yay, so happy. What about it is working that I don't usually do? The multiply-only shading? The ovoid composition? The pictorial-border-thing? I definitely agree that this one felt like it worked, but I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what I should borrow from it.

I'm having trouble determining it, as well! The colors are just AMAZING! Did you maybe color your linework more? I think that may have softened the linework to match your style with color a lot more!

temiel In reply to NickRoblesArt [2011-03-14 03:24:13 +0000 UTC]

Eh, sometimes I color the lines and sometimes I don't... in this one I did, but I don't think it was any more so than other pieces where I colored the lines. IT IS A MYSTERY!! O__o I do think that the colors seem a little more saturated than usual, but that could be a product of the fact that to get the "shadows" (which aren't really even proper shadows) I just took the base color and painted with a brush set on Multiply. Which I have to admit, makes me feel a little cheap...

Of course, it could just be the fact that this is all warm, and everything I've been doing lately is a lot less so. My natural inclination tends to be toward warm colors, but working with characters that demand nighttime lighting all the time tends to cool down the ol' palette a little bit.

UUGGGHH YOU DRAW FLOWERS AND CLOTHING SO BEAUTIFULLY!! <3 I mean, as well as the gorgeous faces/expressions and hair of course- your stuff is just always so amazing :'D Please keep it up man!

AHHHH thank you!! Flowers are one of those things it took me AGES to learn how to draw, these ones are definitely referenced just because my internalized conception of plant life tends to be really off-kilter. Clothes, on the other hand, come quite naturally. I'm so glad you like it, though!!

Oooh, such details on frames!!! Ths is really sweet and has somehow a classic feeling...probably it's the frame!
They're gorgeous, and I love their clothes!

I think I told you earlier that I was kind of inspired by all the "floating" figures without frames and the round-frames you've been doing lately. I've always really loved that look, and yet for some reason I never really bothered to use PNG transparency to its full, proper extent. XD So yes, you inspired me!! Very glad you like it!

Thanks much! Glad you like them, they were fun! I don't tend to do a lot of botanical details- at least, I haven't for a while- but it was a nice change-up. ^__^
