[DOWNLOAD FOR FULL RESOLUTION]My submission for the current Anthro Challenge, which has the Olympic theme. Thanks to *vincentwolf for reminding me.
This was pretty fun to do. (I did this entirely tonight)I used a photo of Michael Phelps for reference.

Sorry, family joke. Dad can't do the butterfly stroke to save his life (and I'm not far behind - and my sister set the 8 and under girls butterfly record at our pool. Go figure). Dad calls butterfly "forward drowning." And I agree with him.

Maybe you could have darkened the fur so it looks wet, and give it more gleam as well and make it look like it's stuck to the body like long hair.

Otters don't have long hair. They have some of the thickest coats in the animal kingdom and it's fairly short. However I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately trying to make it look matted would have taken hours to look right, and might have looked distracting too. I chose to leave it out.
As for darkening the fur, I actually did that, but it's not that noticeable due to the lighting, I think. You can see it best on his cream colored fur. It's slightly more saturated and a bit darker than it usually is.

Fact: It is easier to swim butterfly with your head underwater.
Fact: Swimmers either shave themselves or wear full suits to be as hydrodynamic as possible.
Fact: Otters have fur, and that would greatly slow them down.
Fact: Otters can actually swim.
Fact: I'm going nowhere with this.
