I know what you mean. Due to the atmosphere, things blue out in the distance, especially shadows to a certain point.

A nice image that you did there, but I feel that it looks a bit too flat to my eye. But since it is a speed paint, I am not too concerned about that small design error.

I am not too sure what image source (if any) you used, but my opinion is that the trees in the foreground look a bit too level when in natural cases, the heights of the trees tend to vary and has spaces between each tree at the crown level creating openings to the forest floor intermittently through the forest.

The sky is the one causing the image to look flat from my perspective, the sky tend to be more blue at the horizon in the middle of the day. I feel that the life of the image is missing, some dynamic properties could be added to the image, such as glare, wildlife for example.

The shape of the mountains are looking good and very natural to me as what you would normally see in reality and the valley in the middle is very believable as this could be a real place anywhere in the world so good job on handling the environmental shape of the image you did there.

Overall, it is an interesting image where the scene looks believable and natural, but somehow is lacking a bit of life and character to it. Considering that it is a speed pain, it is a very well done job that you have done there.

Cheers, Red.

Thanks for the great comment.

I didn't use reference for this. The foreground is actually supposed to be grass, but I can see why they look like trees.

I think it may look flat because of the horizon. I think it may be lacking life because there isn't much detail in it.

As for the blue on the horizon, I get conflicting critiques. Some say it gets gradually whiter at the horizon, which I've seen for myself. Some say it's bluer midday, like yourself.

Thanks.

Whoops, I was wrong, after checking my photos, the horizon is whiter than the rest of the sky as seen in one of my images ( [link] - in between the clouds the sky becomes whiter as you get closer to the horizon), sorry about the error! I don't know why I had it the wrong way around..

Ah, so they were grass not trees, my humble mistake there.

Well, I understand what you mean about how there isn't much detail in it, considering that it is a speed paint.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers, Red.
