Description
"La Jeune Martyre" is a painting by Paul Delaroche that I discovered in the Louvre in Paris.It shows a young girl that is drowned as a martyr, now floating dead in the water.
I instantly loved the motif, as terrible as it was, showing some strange kind of aesthetic (except the unfortunate placement of the halo).
So while drawing this couple of the Guardian Angel and the young drowning victim, I was reminded of the paiting of Delaroche - hence the title.

Beautiful. The poor girl even shows signs of cyanosis. I like the sweater of the angel. Also the rings in the water. And the flower pattern on the girls clothes. Very subtle. Really good.
