Very interesting and detailed design, love the muted but still very strong colors and the butterfly wing elements.
I'd love to hear a back story about them, are they purely friendly or maybe they smile in a sarcastic manner?

They're not evil, and are totally loyal for anyone who are decent guest on their territory. They are forest spirits, but not the ones who can (or want) easily communicate with people. Like the Nature itself they can be completely merciless if there's a reason.
