Description A background I did a while back, it really needed a character to complete it. I added Jonathan Crane of DC comics, aka the villain 'Scarecrow'.

I like this dude - he's very nerve-wracked and full of spiteful anger, so I wanted to make an atmospheric picture where he looks content for once.

Hope you like!

Aside from the generic "I love Joker" (which I do by the way, The only Clown I like is so evil and psychotic that villains tell stories about him to scare each other.) Scarecrow is easily my Second Favorite Batman villain. He's such a raw and primal sort of character, doing what any Scarecrow is there to do: Scare things. He drugs them with fear and watches them go insane and die of horrific hallucinations. The worst way to die is facing your worst nightmare.

Nice work! The background looks really good and it was a perfect idea to add the "Scarecrow". ^^

Thank you very much, it is an old picture but it reminds me now to try doing more things with backgrounds...

OMG... This is beautiful. <3
How the heck did I miss this?

I love the concept. I love the idea that Jonathan finally gets some peace now and again. I'm surprised the man doesn't have tons on wrinkles white hair yet with as much as he stresses, and fumes, and frets, and worries.
Great work!!

Gyah, thank you!

I actually love the idea of a Jonathan at peace with whatever plagues his mind. I think oddly enough he'd be happy in a quiet, secluded place fit for a proper scarecrow.

You are right! I do think that's a fun reason to imagine why he's middle-aged looking in some comics and thirty-ish in others, must be the stress finally peeking out, haha!

I need to draw more of the Batman villains just being people as well.
It's nice to see their more human sides. Because really, their lives are hell. And a lot of it is their fault, but with their psychosis sometimes they can't do anything about it.

I think your right. I picture Jonathan just finding a secluded, grassy field and just falling asleep in the soft grass.
HAHA!! Yeah!! All that frowning is catching up to him!!

Aww, you are too right! And I agree, a lot of it is indeed their fault, but I still often feel sorry for them. Some have backstories that you just can't *not* feel sorry for.

I shall keep a look out for any pics you might do of 'just people' Gotham villains, it's to me a concept I always enjoy encountering...

Exactly.
Awesome!! I'll try not to disappoint. I've actually had an idea in my head for a LONG time of drawing Ink with all of the Batman character, illustrating her relationships with each of them. Like for example... her hanging out with Eddie and playing with rubix cubes!! XD

Scarecrow. <3 Seriously the best comic book villain ever. I love how the colours blend together and you have him standing very much like a scarecrow in the middle of a field of grain.

Im a sucker for Scarecrow but what I like most here is the sky and the way it seems to fit with the character so much! In here, it seems he has finally gotten what he wanted, and the lighter shades at the bottom remind me of his toxic gas and fire! Great job!

Hey, thanks very much! (I drew the background first with the Scarecrow in mind, just stuck a doodle of him in way afterward. )

Holy cow! This is incredible! I love how the foreground is blurry in relation to the rest of the piece. The colors are so vivid! My only criticism with this piece is that his coat is blowing in a different direction than the grass...but that's it.

Lovely as always, dear.

My goodness, thank you, thank you! I totally missed that, I love it when someone takes the time to notice logical matters like that.
I had a bit of a problem fixing it, but I can upload the edited version now. (You wouldn't happen to know how to flip/rotate a single layer in photoshop, would you? I'm such a newb. )

Also, thank you most kindly for your lovely comment, dear!

In all honesty, I always flatten an image whenever I'm done with it. Probably not the best of ideas...

But you seemed to fix it quite well! This is now a PERFECT piece.

I tend to keep a layered version (for a while at least) in case I spot something wrong (so thank you again! ).

Ahem, erm, not perfect (anatomy fail etc.), but a bit better at least I hope!

Trumpeteer34 In reply to Teq-Uila [2010-12-08 00:25:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, I like it.

I really should keep a layered version...I just don't like the PSD. files.
