Description I don't care that her face is all wrong (her nose and mouth are too far forward thanks to stupid anime drawing habits, etc etc), but this turned out ridiculously well for a doodle in class (later on the train/on BART). It's still WIP but I figured I'd post it now before any further changes leads to complete DISASTER. Because you know it will >.>

While it is still obviously rooted in anime, I think that the overall style is pretty general and I'm getting a little closer to a realistic style. I know I'm still FAR FAR away from my goal but hey, at least I'm getting there. The shading is also an improvement over my old cell style of old. I think that part of what kept this from being more realistic was the hair but I couldn't help myself with that

Anyway the doodley stuff at top is to be ignored for the meantime (it'll play a larger role later...if I ever finish this )

I LOVE IT. very pretty!
I see NO anime roots, but I do see some nouvoish stuff.

Perhaps try a softer lip style to make her face more feminine? XD Or maybe thats just my prefrence.

Whoa! Is that you?!?!? You're so pretty! But if it isn't, she's awesomely done! Her face looks very realistic, but I can tell that the hair is still rooted in anime (it has a bit of an art noveau (sp?) flavour to it...) Very, very well done!!! ^__^

Haha no no, not me at all. I'm glad you like how she turned out though! Haha yeah, it's still very anime-art nouveau-ish. I can't get away from it! I used to be more versatile at drawing hair but now I keep ending up with this style!

Once you're comfortable with a style, you tend to stick with it. lol. I 've had many people tell me that all my people look the same! Oh, btw, did you take a look at my Pevensie character designs? (I sent you a link to my Photobucket a while back...) You'll know what I mean when people say they all look the same!

But Awesome job on this piece!! You've improved ALOT in my opinion!

Hehe I saw your photobucket pics - don't worry, my people tend to look the same. About 3/4 of my doodles are profiles because I avoid 2 eyes (especially full front) like the plague - especially when I was younger. I could never get them to look alike so I just decided I'd stick to profiles I'm trying to slowly work my way to full front by doing some 3/4 profiles I need to be more experimental

Ugh I know. I was so mad when I saw it after I shaded it all because if I tried erasing and re-shading it wouldn't look as good anymore because the quality of the shading/paper would be different. Poopy. But thank you!

Well it's not so much that it's cheap but because it's got grain to it to make blending easier, but the more you erase the more the grain comes off. >.<
