Ok. Your Prismacolors are amazing. I have to ask. What pack did you get? I love how you defined the cat just by adding highlights and the eyes, that is really cool. I also like how you subtly changed Sally's face. I really love her hair. That is just beautiful and looks really realistic. I have to ask how you got the different shades because when the little bits of hair break off near her right cheek you can see the individual hairs highlighted in a different color. Did you do it in a lighter color first and then went over it in the red? I really love the coloring on the flowers in the background (Thistles?) and her dress and skin. Two patches on her dress really stand out to me. The light blue one hear the flowers and the green shoulder piece. I love the shift in value in the blue and how you can see bits of the black paper through the green. But then I look closer and the purple circle and the red and darker blue have such deep color and the hot pink and gold are so bright! I really love this piece.

Thank you so much! The prisma colors I pick up here and there individually at various art stores, so the only pack I actually ever bought at once was the skin tone one. I think it had 24 colors all in different beiges, roses, sand, grays, white and browns. it was definitely a good learning tool to realize not all skin tones consisted of only "beige and brown".

I find working with the black paper is less challenging than plain white, since my style usually runs with darker hues anyway, and my poor pencils don't have to works so hard to cover the spaces left behind. it is a different process though, where as like her hair for example: On the black paper I started out with a deep red and worked over in lighter reds, oranges and yellows. if I had white paper, i would have started with a light red or orange and worked into the darker shades for highlighting.

It's all a process of finding the right way to portray your medium through the surface you're working with, just trial and error for me really, but I think I have fallen in love with Black Artagain Paper.

I love how you did her crooked mouth, I always thought that made her extra cute.

Thank you! I like how she is a bit lopsided looking in her movements and features.
