Rehearsal Day for "Tess The Terrific" escape artist extraordinaire. In an actual performance there would be a satin cover over the cage but she decided not to use it for rehearsal. The special tool to get free from the single glove was on a table just 3 feet away but... There was a hidden switch that allowed one of the bars to pivot so she could get free from the cage. The problem was that she needed to hold down the switch and push on the bar at the same time and the chain connecting the cuffs on her ankles was too short to allow her to do this. She had tried to push the switch many ways with more reach but it was designed to only work when pushed by a spike heel of her shoes. She was quite stuck.
