I think America borrowed a few ideas from the Leclerc for the M1A3 Abrams.

Which ideas were those?

A good autoloader. The one on the M1A3 will give a rate of fire of 20+ rounds per minute.

I don't think it's accurate to say that Americans borrowed the idea of putting an autoloader in the M1A3 from the Leclerc. The Leclerc wasn't the first MBT with an autoloader (that would be the T64, a tank which was built nearly 30 years before the Leclerc), and General Dynamics actually built a prototype autoloading M1 in 1986, four years before the first Leclerc left the factory. I think that any addition of an autoloader to the M1A3 will have much more to do with the DoD's positive experiences with the remotely-operated, auto-loading turret of the Stryker MGS (a much more complex piece of equipment than the Leclerc's turret - also built by General Dynamics) and the fact that remotely-operated turrets are clearly the way of the future.
I am really curious to see how they fit the autoloader into the M1's turret, and what it does to crew positions inside; if you eliminate the loader, that's a huge volume of empty space. What will they put there? It's fascinating to imagine.

The ammunition storage in Abrams is a bustle in the rear of the turret, plus some rounds stored in the hull.
It makes sense to put a autoloader similar to Leclerc's in the turret. The turret layout would be similar to Leclerc's as well. Commander in the right front, gunner in left front, main gun in the front middle, autoloader and ammunition storage in the rear half.

They did move the gunner over to the other side of the turret.

You're welcome.
If you look at the top of the turret, you will see the optics on both side of the turret. Common sense, plus the optic placement, dictates that with the loader now unneeded, what better use of his position then to put the gunner in it?
The 20mm is the commander's new toy in the remote operated weapon station on top of the turret. The coax is still an M240. America isn't going to give the gunner a coax that can hurt vehicles just yet. We aren't emulating the French THAT much yet.

With the British Chieftain, the German Leopard II, and the American Abrahms,Ā they would have given the Russians a run for their rubles!

I met him on a forum, we facebooked, and the topic eventually just came up.
he's just left for the french version of OCS; he says he wants to print and hang the pic in his office once he (eventually) makes company commander

Soon, we'll have to address saying "mon capitaine".
If there was a post of Official Painter of the French Armed Forces for guys drawing with computer and oponed to non-French, you could totally apply.
Say, this picture looks like you've painted it, and not just drawn it using a program ? How did you draw it, exactly ?
