Lynn stormed down the hallway, having finally mustered up the courage to confront her neighbor. She didn't normally mind if one of the other tenants got a little noisy on occasion, but after a near twenty four hours straight of a dog barking, she was equal parts worried and pissed. Lynn breathed out heavily before rapping heavily on the door, expecting the girl who lived their to answer with her usual snarkiness, but instead there was a moment of silence, then a scuffling sound. She was worried for a moment that something was wrong, but a heavy thud against the door was followed by a voice.

"rrrufff... Rrhey it's... R-R-Riley. Thank grrrod, I thought nobody was coming... Rufff!"

A voice somewhat like the usually agitating Riley called out from behind the door, but it sounded deeper, maybe a little raspy, and there was still that damn barking dog.

"Look, Riley, what is going on? Can't you keep that damn dog quiet? It's 3AM and me and the other tenants are-"

Riley cut Lynn off. "Grrr... Rufff, just... just open the door!"

Lynn frowned "What? Fine.." she reached out and grabbed the handle, it wasn't locked. As she turned the knob the door opened with a suddenness that knocked Lynn to her feet. A large shape barreled out of the darkness and straddled her. It looked like a do but... It was huge and, it wasn't a dog at all. Sure it had some dog-like features, but there was no mistaking that this was Riley. The Riley-Dog's long tongue lapped across Lynn's face and the pinned girl grunted and tried to push the other off of her.

Riley scampered away and Lynn swore that beneath the barking she heard a 'thank you' as the girl-creature ran down the stairs, breaking into a four legged stance as she hit the ground floor and disappearing out of sight. Lynn wiped the drool from her face, sighing as she eyed some shallow scratches on her lower arms. The smell of dog clung to the air drifting out the open apartment door, and Lynn shook her head in dismay at what she saw. All the furniture looked like it had been chewed up by an animal, and there were empty containers of food strewn all over the place. This was unlike Riley, she was always a bit of a clean freak from what Lynn had seen, but then again, whatever or whoever that thing that bolted out of the apartment was, it wasn't any Riley she knew. Either way, the barking was finally over, and Lynn could finally get a few hours sleep before the sun rose, or so she thought.

Sleep did not come easily for Lynn, she had washed and bandaged her scratches earlier, but they ached and itched bad enough that she was tossing and turning for over an hour until her exhaustion finally overtook her.

The blaring of the alarm clock on Lynn's nightstand woke her at an time a few hours shy of reasonable. It was only six in the morning, and two restless hours had done nothing but soured her already tenuous mood. Lynn swatted at the alarm, but she missed the off button. She fumbled around but it was as if she was wearing a catcher's mitt, her hands felt clumsy and stiff. Lynn let out a frustrated growl and then barked angrily at the alarm. "Grrrr Stupid clock, I'm gonna brrrreak you! Rufff!"

Lynn hadn't opened her eyes yet, dreading seeing the sun of daylight, but at the sound of the eerily familiar noise escaping her own lips, her eyes shot open. Lynn doubted this fact for a moment or two. Surly she was still asleep, it was the only thing that would explain the white fur poking through her bandages and the paw-like hands that had taken the place of her own. Lynn whimpered softly and she pushed herself into a sitting position with her... paws. She felt a pressure behind her get relieved and she let out a sigh, unaware that it had been caused by her tail being freed from beneath the weight of her body. The long black and white fluffed appendage swayed back and forth, and she felt it dully thwack against her pillow. She looked back and had no words.

It didn't take too long for Lynn to connect the dots between the strange state of Riley's appearance, and the sounds that had come from her apartment, it all made sense in a messed up way now. Whatever was happening to her, had also happened to Riley. Lynn scratched at her ears, which had grown to a pointed shape before dropping slightly, and were well on their way to short dog ears. She didn't know what to do, it wasn't very day that you turn into a dog person Ultimately she decided on checking Riley's apartment for clues.

Riley's scent hung in the air, and Lynn's tail wagged at her notice of it. Lynn frowned and willed the unruly tail to stay still. As Lynn poked through the debris of Riley's things, she felt a familiar itch on her upper arms and lower back, and could see white hairs growing in as she searched. It was getting hot in her apartment as the sun rose, and Lynn's tongue occasionally dangled as she panted softly. Her face went red as she realized what she was doing and had to stop her more canine mannerisms again. By this point she had wasted a good deal of time, and she had for her efforts was some fur, and judging by the pointy shape she felt with her long tongue, some larger canine teeth as well. Lynn's tail dropped between her legs when she saw the reflection of a girl who looked like she could be half collie in Riley's broken mirror. Lynn whimpered, with no options left she calmed herself for a moment, and tried to focus in on her strangely acute sense of smell.

She felt like this was giving in to her more dog-like side, but It felt right to accept her strange new body. Lynn's nose darkened and changed shape as she tried to harness it's sniffing powers, and it didn't take long for her face to push out into a slight muzzle. In moments she had picked up the scent enough to follow Riley's outside and to head off in her general direction. If anyone knew what was going on it would be her, she just had to know...
