Well, it's not quite the same character, but they do look similar.
The short answer is that I wanted movie 'Bee to be a Misfit, but Derrick never designed one, so the PRIME 'Bee design fills that spot on the roster in my ANIMATED universe.
He'll probably be the most mysterious and last explored Misfit, but you should start to see hints soon.

It'll make more sense when I get to his part of the story, but it's not intended to be the TFP Bumblebee character. I wanted a TFA version of movie Bumblebee on the team, but Derrick didn't design one. TFP Bumblebee was the next best thing.
And, although I really didn't want to, I am loving TFP.

I asked Derrick J. Wyatt if he'd ever drawn a TFA movie-verse Bumblebee and he said no, nor did he have a mind to.
So, yes -- we slotted in TFP Bumblebee. I think he meshes right in, especially with Daniel's style.
