I usually don't like child characters very much, but he was always so likable, despite being a brat sometimes.
And I felt incredibly bad for him, when Mithos turned on him. After he thought he'd finally found another half-elven friend his age.
(Even though I kinda expected that ... it didn't help at all.)

I personally think the bratty attitude is what made his character believable. his only 12 years old, if he was all smarts he wouldn't feel like a child at all and he can still be very mature. plus he got some wicked magic spells!!
I felt bad for him two. Mithos you back stabbing little piece of poo. come back an apologies and be friends again. everything else just hurts >':

Yup, that's true. Though I'd say he is a bit of an exception, because many writers tend to overdo it with this kind of attitude ... either that or the "innocent child" thing.
I think he has a nice balance between being a know-it-all brat and a slightly naive and very idealistic child. And awesome spells.
