Description
This was my take on the world's largest fish, showing an average and a large sized individual.
This fish amazed me since I saw it in Walking with Dinosaurs. However the WWD version is often criticized for the head's sloping form and visible dermal head bosses. The most amazing aspect of these fish that is never shown in the documentary is that they could thrust their jaw hinge forward and open their jaws wide like an enormous net to consume huge quantities of plankton. A comparison could be made with the basking shark, which looks like its head has grown in size when it opens its mouth to feed.
