Description Finished "Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" the day before yesterday. It was epic! *_*

A  character group fanart of the main characters is in progress. Maybe it sounds odd, but somehow I really like Kira a lot. I prefer her name translation of the German localization, which was perfectly elaborated in my opinion.
She was called Bella Dorner in the german version. (may come from "belladonna" and also from an old little-known phrase "even the most beautiful rose have thorns (thorn=ger.: 'Dorn').

Well... as said, more fanarts coming soon.

Nice, nice. And yeah, seems so. I wonder if the american localization will be the same as UK or not.

A suprisingly suitable name... I mean, she is still alive after she died... in a way. xD

(For people who have not played Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, this post may contains spoilers.)

I completed the game too. It was quite creepy to see Bella going crazy after being accused and then get burned as well. This is really creepy for a Professor Layton game. People always seem to die off-screen in Layton games and then they usually turn out to be alive after all (I haven't played the Azran Legacies yet, so I can't speak for that game). It turned out that Bella was still alive too, but it was a bit of a surprise to me this time.

Her Dutch name (Niederländisch) is Anemoon LeFeu. Her first name 'Anemoon' is Dutch for the flower 'Anemone' (Windröschen) and her last name 'LeFeu' is French for 'the fire', giving the hint that she is the fire witch.

I know! When she laughed insanely I began to wonder if this was part of the reason they hesitated to bring out an English version?

It's a common thing for witnesses to go crazy on the stand in Ace Attorney games, for example one witness rips his toupee off and throws it in Nick's face.

The on screen death isn't as common, but it still happens, for example a witness poisons themselves and coughs up blood on the stand.

Yeah. I watched some game play of Ace Attorney way before I bought Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, so I'm familiar with the moments in which witnesses go crazy. In Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, these moments however, use more dynamic camera views, are voiced and always end with an animated cut-scene. Those things cane make these moments either funnier or more intense.

Yeah, they really wanted to show off the 3ds's technology.

I think that motive of mine contains enough spoilers. xD
I also thinking that the story had a more dark theme than the common Layton-games. Although there were some deceased persons in the past, it wasn't presented in such a cruel way like in this game. *still has goosebumps when thinking back on the first death sentence scene*

Oh and thanks for the interesting info. It wasn't unusual  when people have names associated with their occupations in the past ages, so it's quite authentic. I always enjoying to look for all the the variants of name translations, especially concerning the Ace Attorney characters.

Things surely are more dramatic in this game, but I kinda like it. Since this is an adventure that both Layton and Phoenix never really have encountered before, it makes this adventure feel so much greater.

It's actually the first time an Ace Attorney game is translated in Dutch, but Professor Layton games always had Dutch translations since Pandora's Box. Usually, the Dutch translations leaves most of the names the same, but in Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, the translators changed more names then usual. Oddly enough, a few not-Dutch names changed into other not-Dutch names. I like some of the Dutch names better though.

For example, Espella Cantabella's (Sophie de Narateur) Dutch name is 'Meave Cantabella'. The name Meave is, as far as I know, not a pun. However, I searched for the name and I discovered it means 'narcotic', 'numb' or 'dazed'. This name actually makes a lot of sense when you completed the game and know Meave's secrets. Ever since she witnessed the Great Fire, Meave lost her sense from reality and the truth. She more or less lived in her own dream world created by her father. The name change is kinda clever.

I'm really enjoying this game myself

That may be the case. But it would be great in my opinion, if there is an independent franchise/story with such a setting and magic trial case thing like in that game. I enjoyed the concept regarding those magical murder cases and the regulations of different spell.

Thanks btw!^^
