FULL VIEW! Its kinda better. Lots of obnoxious flashy lights. I think I might remove the flashing lights, actually...

Ok, so, yes I've been to Shibuya, but I've never actually been to strange clubs with lots of seizure inducing flashing lights and j-pop music. I'm sure they exist but, rawr, I'll just have to wait until the next visit to see them.

So this character (who I'll just call Michiko, after my awesome cousin) gave me alot of hell when colouring her. I had it all sketched out beautifully, but then I tried inking it in photoshop. The linework took me around 4 days, and I spent another 2-3 days making no progress on the shading. Pretty much it went nowhere, because my photoshop skills are soooooo bad.

So I decided, why not try doing it in flash. Overall, it took me about an hour or 2 on the linework, and around 2-3 with the shading and colors, and I think the end result is much better than I expected.

A bit of background on this. The character was inspired by 's character, Pepper, more specifically the version that appeared on the cover of the art book "Exotique 4", though I'm not sure who the artist was who made that one. Anyway, look it up if u can. I thought that character was soooo cool, and the lighting effects and colouring were simply tops! Haha, I think you can really see the influence of it in this.

In terms of the actual look of the character, I used the girls from the j-pop trio "Buono" as a reference, as well as Haruhi Suzumiya. The Headphones I wasn't really all for at first, but I added them later and I think they are quite nice.

Haha, you probably wouldn't believe, but I actually used a Japanese magazine of H-game previews to help me figure out how to color this (I bought the magazine by accident thinking it was just a straight anime mag, but it was tied with string so I couldn't actually tell...for serious). I like that cell-ish style with gradients...not sure what its called.

Anyway, I'm sure i've talked your ear off, so just a few last notes. The symbol in the background is the Shibuya flag, the headphones she's wearing you can actually buy, and the music is a 10 second loop from a Koda Kumi song (and is in compliance with...that fair use thing...I checked, lol). Oh and the Beat Blur (as I call it) only kinda syncs on the first playthrough, then it desyncs. I had a choice to have it loop or stream. Loop means it plays smoothly when it loops, while stream means it syncs with the beat blur, but theres a short silence before it loops.

I'll shut up now.
