It's friggin' late. Gonna be friggin' tired tomorrow. Gotta go to work.Also this game. So many feelz!
(Seriously though, never did I need to work up courage to fight a boss - not because the boss's scary, but because fighting doesn't seem right! Wished there was an option to just turn back and stay with everyone. Unfortunately, everyone's expecting youΒ to stay "determined")
Hope you can bare with my lazy style for the moment - and with Undertale fanart! Because I have feeling there's more on the way.

Now that you're saying it, I suppose it would surprise someone.
People are drawn to drama, and a big number of fanarts shows or deals with the Genocide route.
At the time I drew this, I hadn't even seen the Genocide route yet.

And for added punch, the game even makes sure you learn the whole truth JUUUST BEFORE the fight. Whyyyy. When the text during Asgore's fight said 'you tell Asgore you don't want to fight', it caught me off guard because that's not what I expected to say and I felt bad for forcing Frisk to continue.Β

Something about Asriel's story... or that they've met Toriel in the Ruins.. something along those lines... Probably not the most tactful thing to say, but I was still reeling from all that revelations at the time and that was all I had in mind. :d

Telling Asgore that you've met Toriel and that she's fine and all, still trying to protect humans... that would probably have been a real clever thing to say.
I could imagine him entirely losing his focus if Frisk would just tell him she's still around.

Yeah, I was thinking that might be the key to ending the battle peacefully, not that there are many other options.. Also, I dunno if you already knew, but it turns out if you TALK to him after killing any monster the text says, "But there is nothing to say", which is... interesting. (I just found out today..) So begging not to fight seems to be Frisk's own call without player input, which means your comic above might be two steps closer to canon if their facial expression wasn't so.. restricted.

That's a really interesting fact I actually did not know of yet!
Also, I guess it kinda makes sense that after progressing far enough, the character takes a bit on a life on its own.
Frisk maybe not as much as Chara, but both in their own way, I'd say...

Agreed and the feels do not get better the more you play the game I bet.

Actually I have a feeling that the more you play Undertale - or more specifically, the more you start over - the more numb you get.
And the more likely you are to start/try the genocide route and actually do it. The thought kind of terrifies me.
I've played the game now twice, watched people play it also twice, and had a friend over to have them play.
Oh, and that one time... I got another friend of mine to play the Genocide route, because I wanted to know what it is like for him if this is the first route you get to know. Needless to say, he felt the game was a bit... empty, strangely scary. And brutally difficult. (By the way, he never finished this route. Sans got the better of him.)

It was a really weird feeling watching him try to beat Sans. The more often he attempted it, the easier/more possible it got. After a while, even I was thinking about whether it would be fun to take on the challenge. But my moral was stronger. Eventually we quit, because it got too late and ever since he felt the fight was too difficult to start all over again.
Not yet. I keep telling him he should just quit and start over (he hasn't finished the genocide, so there should be no consequences)
...buuuuut I think I might've been a little bit too annoying with my recent enthusiasm about the game. X)

Maybe, so you can reset before you meet Chara?

Well, you can Reset pretty much anytime. However, if you do so during a run, characters will remember you vaguely and the game keeps the name you selected for Chara at the beginning.
Everytime you've just ended the game, you can perform a "True Reset", where everything will be cleared and a new name can be chosen.
What I know is that when you complete a genocide route, and perform a true reset afterwards, the game will remember the genocide and the ending of all following pacifist routes are altered.
Have you not played the game yet? You should sometime!
If PC is not an option for you, there's rumors that Undertale might make the jump to a console/handheld in the future!

I kind of want to say "I wish this game had an option that you just could stay underground", but then I notice, yes, there's that option - which is simply to NOT progress. But it just doesn't feel right either, when all the NPCs don't change.
