Description Now arriving on Track 73, the 2nd Re-sized Postwar Lionel engine! Here is the re-sized Postwar Berkshire, re-done from an older out-of-scale post I did a long time ago. The Berkshire was the most popular steam engine in Lionel's roster and stayed in the PW catalog an impressive 22 years, sadly not being cataloged twice; once in 1945 (first year of Postwar Production, only one set was made) and the other in 1969 (final postwar year).

"The Berkshire locomotive was named for its testing location within the Berkshire Hills of the Boston & Albany Railroad. The Boston & Albany Railroad became the first to order the new Berkshires and eventually over 600 were built by the Lima Locomotive Works, the American Locomotive Company and Baldwin Locomotive Works. Additionally, nineteen different railroads purchased Berkshires.

In Lionelville, the Berkshire is an impressive steam locomotive. Starting with the early 726 locomotive with the die-cast 2426W tender and continuing with the 736, every postwar version is a durable, reliable engine with fantastic operating ability."

Included above are the two Postwar Berks, the 736 atop with the streamlined tender and the 726 below with the scale 2426W Tender. Like the turbine, this has been left blank so you could see all the details that make this beast look amazing.

EDIT 8/14/16: Added in the grab irons that I somehow overlooked
EDIT 9/6/16: Revised the rivets on the 2426W Tender to the more correct 700e Tender rivet detailing.
EDIT 11/15/16: Fixed the tender truck colors and the transparency issue.
EDIT 12/4/16: Replaced the 2426W Tender Trucks.
EDIT 2/23/17: Removed (and fixed) the simulated Baker gear on the 726 Berkshire, but still adding it as an option.

Your welcome If you need some help on the 9000, I'd be glad to lend a hand. After I post the Jr Hudson, I'll take a small break from the engines and then go back and do the 746 and some other engines.
