I have noticed this the first time I have seen this peace, but failed to put it in a comment:
The patterns on the birch trees look like angry eyes. That gives the impression of encirclement, close invisible danger, partisans being surrounded by enemies. I hate to say this in a descriptive manner, I am sure there is a good word for it.

lol... and what group of partisans would be complete with out, a german stick-nades (They ripped off) and few PpSh 41/42 And a few Nagant Rifles (m1891/30).

I like this. The style reminds me of a wood carving you'd see in 18th-19th century newspapers, except for the 1940s soviet weapons of course.
