If commissions are still available I might get one. How much would it cost?

For a Reversible philomena, she would start at $100 plus S&H (if you wanted an accessory or other touch that would raise the price based on materials close and complexity). Thank you for your inquiry!

Love it! What material did you use for the middle tail feathers? the sparkling ones?

Thank you! The tail feathers are all different kinds of organza. The red has orange highlights, but you can't really see them in the horrible picture. I plan on redoing her in minky, but not sure if I want to do the tail in minky or figure out how to get a better edge using organza...

Really cool. I had a stuffed duck that could turn into an egg when I was little, but doing a phoenix and ash pile is really clever. Looks great too!

Thank you! I like to make creative things, rather than the same-old, same-old. Or at least put a twist on them...

I am working on getting the last of the bugs out and shrinking her down a little so I can offer her for commissions. I am also currently working on a dress for my Luna plushie, though, so I don't know how long. I'm not exactly the fastest sewer in the East.

I wanted to do something original and off-the-wall; I like taking "regular" projects and making them unique. I was going to do a Philomena for my Celestia plush anyways, so I thought I would give her a twist, and this is what I came up with. I had been toying with the idea of using real feathers, but I had already done that twice with my ponies, so I started brainstorming on how to get an "ash" effect instead.

Thanks again! I am not going to take pony commissions until I get the pattern bugs worked out (especially the head/neck swivel joint) and am faster at sewing. No point to take a commission if it takes me a month to do it; folks shouldn't have to wait that long. Philomena was much easier (compared to ponies), so I am much happier working her into a commission-able item first. Plus, that will give me the practice sewing that I need to improve my ponies, so it's a win-win. Plus x2, I also need to work out a regular pony pattern first (I focused on alicorns).

Well, I am trying to remake her in a more manageable size to offer for sale in the future as a commission. I need to finish my Luna dress project first, though.

Wow! I am amazed by such a wonderful craft! You don't see this everyday!
I'd love to see how you made this!
I love phoenixes because they remind me of Jesus, and I'm a total Jesus freak!
And I love ponies as well^^

Thank you! I just looked at pictures of her and built a pattern based on those. Then I stalked "reversible" toys at Wal-Mart trying to see how they flipped, and coming up with my own version (I will modify future editions based on what I learned with this one). It was a lot easier than making a pony, that's for sure.

Thank you very much! I tried hard to do her justice, and I like phoenixes in general. I did take some liberty with her tail feathers and crest, but I found some flame colored organza that I just couldn't pass up.

We were talking about it some more, and we think that if I was to start offering them, maybe $45 or $50. I need to work the bugs out of her first, though (I made 3 different heads before I got one that was decent, and I still want to tweak it some more).

Thanks for the tip! I am planning a trip to the fabric store tomorrow to get materials for the dress I'm making for Luna; I will see what they have in orange ultra cuddle (the closest I've got to minky here) or something similar. The only problem is it shreds, so hopefully I can find it in a low pile.
