Description It not really been removed, but this is my "Protesting dA's Copyright Violation Policies"(which are full of fail.) Yes I recently had more devs removed(even though I "hand-did them on my own computer"). Maybe you people at dA dont know what art even is. Ya see something ya dont like and you delete it like a bunch of hateful trolls. >X(

They havent done this to me in quite awhile. Back when I did this, it was quite common.

Well I am not against violating copyright at any time as long as the violator is well intentioned. But are you saying they removed stuff that you made yourself? That like makes them totally hypocritical then! You should "appeal" it at least, if you havent already...

this happened to me, too...over 100 of my stuff got deleted...and my group and gallery was terrorized....

I photoshopped a video game character into another video game character's costume and put it on an abstract background, they delete it.

I hate it when people say that editing someone else's work is not creative. It IS creative, if you edit it creatively.

I'm always glad when I find someone on da that agrees with me. cause it often seems to be dominated by rulebound copyright nazis.

Well, they have their reasons, but I do agree that clever editing is also art.

The only time I support "art theft" is when its well intentioned. Which for me is clever editing, or using it in a bigger creation, like a stamp with an animation or a video game I develop. I dont support just directly uploading stuff an d claiming as your own, cause thats lying. But somepeople seem to lump what I do in with that. I dont think people should DEMAND permission or credit. but if someone sees Ive used my stuff and wants credit, I will happily give it to them if they ask nicely. And if I dont originally give it, Im still not claiming it as mine. People seem to think thats implied but its not.

CyberneticCupcake In reply to CureLovelyWarrior [2011-11-25 01:49:41 +0000 UTC]

Right. I don't support "fakers", but the usage of other materials in my works is what makes me reluctant to have "anti-art-theft" stamps in my collection. I like making my own stuff whenever I can, but sometimes, some other piece is so well done that I have to include it in my own work. It's more like tribute than actual theft, and they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, if you don't mind me using such a dreadful cliche.

CureLovelyWarrior In reply to CyberneticCupcake [2011-11-25 01:59:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah anytime I use something its because I LIKE it, so I hate how they say its disrespectful.

And also another factor, is that even though I make games, and can PROGRAM them, I really cant draw anything worthy of using. I also prefer to work alone rather than form a "team" of people to develop with. So I have to take stuff. I dont see "stealing" from an ameteur as any different from stealing from a big company. But since it seems to bother people more, I usually try and use official art of the characters I want first. If I cant find any that I like, then I come to da and find fanart. I rarely use OCs but I might still use one, if I really like it!

RikusShadow [2009-08-11 15:53:31 +0000 UTC]

I support the copyright sometimes, but it's so unevenly enforced that it's not even funny.

Example: I made an anti-Twilight demotivational a while back, and I had it taken down, but have you seen all the "photomanips" (read: screenshots that were copied and pasted on an MS paint background) that Twitards post up every day that aren't taken down? I even met this one person whose gallery was entirely that, and she had over 10,000 hits and 100 watchers! If they're going to have a copyright, then they might as well enforce all of it and not what the admins think doesn't belong.

I so thank you for making this. I "understand" their policy (and I use the word lightly), but it seems like certain artists get targeted over others I've seen so many movie related stamps and stuff with screencaps in them...and they're never removed...but I make one tribute to a dead celebrity and it's removed after it gets hundreds of favs. That's what makes me mad, is that others get away with it...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Elven-Gamer In reply to stampz-r-4-licking [2009-07-26 01:48:29 +0000 UTC]

I hear ya. And what's worse is that when they remove your work with "Copyright Violation" they never tell you whose copyright you violated. Ive uploaded WMV files that contained works from my own gallery and they removed them with same excuse.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

stampz-r-4-licking In reply to The-Elven-Gamer [2009-07-30 16:43:28 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. Or they never give you the option to remove it yourself. Or at least change the deviation. Because once the deviation is removed, so are the favs and comments That's what upsets me...

Same with YouTube, if you're familiar with WMG.

They remove music videos done by others. I thought these sites support people's ideas?

Good stamp...the copyright rules are so annoying. A couple months ago I got all my photomanips wiped out, and one of 'em had gotten like over 130 favs. I was wicked pissed.

The only thing about it is that they delete your works while claiming "Copyright Violation" but they NEVER tell you what copyright you violated.
