They havent done this to me in quite awhile. Back when I did this, it was quite common.

I photoshopped a video game character into another video game character's costume and put it on an abstract background, they delete it.

I'm always glad when I find someone on da that agrees with me. cause it often seems to be dominated by rulebound copyright nazis.

The only time I support "art theft" is when its well intentioned. Which for me is clever editing, or using it in a bigger creation, like a stamp with an animation or a video game I develop. I dont support just directly uploading stuff an d claiming as your own, cause thats lying. But somepeople seem to lump what I do in with that. I dont think people should DEMAND permission or credit. but if someone sees Ive used my stuff and wants credit, I will happily give it to them if they ask nicely. And if I dont originally give it, Im still not claiming it as mine. People seem to think thats implied but its not.

Right. I don't support "fakers", but the usage of other materials in my works is what makes me reluctant to have "anti-art-theft" stamps in my collection. I like making my own stuff whenever I can, but sometimes, some other piece is so well done that I have to include it in my own work. It's more like tribute than actual theft, and they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, if you don't mind me using such a dreadful cliche.

It's moments like this that make me want to report EVERYTHING on Deviantart, regardless of what it is, like these people do.

I support the copyright sometimes, but it's so unevenly enforced that it's not even funny.
Example: I made an anti-Twilight demotivational a while back, and I had it taken down, but have you seen all the "photomanips" (read: screenshots that were copied and pasted on an MS paint background) that Twitards post up every day that aren't taken down? I even met this one person whose gallery was entirely that, and she had over 10,000 hits and 100 watchers! If they're going to have a copyright, then they might as well enforce all of it and not what the admins think doesn't belong.

I hear ya. And what's worse is that when they remove your work with "Copyright Violation" they never tell you whose copyright you violated. Ive uploaded WMV files that contained works from my own gallery and they removed them with same excuse.

Good stamp...the copyright rules are so annoying. A couple months ago I got all my photomanips wiped out, and one of 'em had gotten like over 130 favs. I was wicked pissed.

The only thing about it is that they delete your works while claiming "Copyright Violation" but they NEVER tell you what copyright you violated.
