Description

Sniper Rebecca Thornwood and MG operator Scott Thornwood of the 31st Praetorian Gothic Legion. Both belong to the 15th Foot Guard regiment, units designated as a form of battlefield elite, Foot Guards being sturdy and capable troops that have a broad range of specialist skills that can be applied quickly. However, the Foot Guards are the lowest on the Elite pecking order, being the unit of infantry elite that opens up doorways to more prestigious and specialised units, such as Stormtroopers and Field Commandos.

Snipers are valued troops in the Empire, which emphasises precise and hard hitting strikes, leading the Imperial Army to have a higher ratio of snipers compared to other armies. The sharpshooters all have to meet extremely high levels of fire discipline and accuracy as well as co-ordination. An example of this investment can be seen in some civilian hostage situations, where a commander can confidently draw up enough snipers to target a criminal each and all fire simultaneously.

Rebecca is a typical imperial sniper, with her more ‘loner’ personality fitting the role well. She is very quiet, speaking little, and keeps her emotions to herself. Her silence and lack of input, having a very neutral, logical stance on things that usually doesn’t resolve questions, leads those who don’t know Becky well to consider her boring. This suits Rebecca fine, as she prefers to stay out of the spotlight and enjoy the company of her small group of friends that are her squamates.

The Empire aims to have a flexible but organised battle doctrine and approach, and this reflects well in their weapons. The MG 43-06 is a combination of the desirable elements of Bren gun and the MG 42 together to form a well rounded weapon. The MG 43-06 is the GPMG of the military and is designate as a light machine gun, using the same assault rifle rounds as the L12A2. The gun is larger then most others in it’s class, and is noticeably heavier. The MG43-06 has 3 settings: single shot, triple burst and full spray, allowing for the accurate fire support of the Bren and wide coverage of the MG 42. Soldiers that use this weapon are usually the largest in the squad, who find the weight manageable as they are supported by the enhanced strength that comes with being a Guardian Soul.

Scott is similar to his sister, Rebecca, being a calm, thoughtful, easy going and a logical person. However his is quite different in the social sense, with his good nature and terrible jokes making him a popular and well liked individual. He usually always has a compliment for everyone he meets and is often consulted for an neutral opinion or perspective. However, his loyalty to the Empire come first, and he does harbour some resentment towards those who oppose his principles.
