Melissa shivered at the sight of the giant as he swept by her cage, intent on using his computer once again. He'd been checking it regularly since he made her do the photo shoot, wearing all those ridiculous costumes. She especially hated the bunny suit, but then, when one finds herself just a few inches tall, one has little choice but to do what her master says.
She wanted to know what had him so fascinated. He barely even noticed her anymore, and that thought worried her beyond measure. What did he plan to do with her, now that he'd made her so small? In the last couple of days since waking up shrunken to the size of a mouse, she'd been angry, terrified, despondent...and finally, she made peace that she'd never be big again, and now she had to live with her new stature. She found herself desperate to find out what her future held.
For what felt like the hundredth time, Melissa struggled with the cage door, hoping desperately to work it free, and to her amazement, this time it popped open. Most of the struggling she'd done before felt fruitless, but somehow all that effort must've worked it loose at last. Hardly daring to congratulate herself, she cautiously she crept out onto the flat wooden surface, working her way across the desk, staying behind all the clutter and getting as close as she dared. With a final effort she dashed the last few inches to find herself behind an enormous pencil cup, peering out from an angle where she could best see the screen.
The display there made her blood run cold. Ebay...he's selling me on Ebay! And he has 99.9% positive feedback...!
The tiny woman turned away, desperately racing for the back side of the desk, angling for one of the computer cords leading down to the floor. I've got to get away, she told herself. I'll find a hole in the wall to hide in, and survive somehow, but I'm not getting sold as someone's pet...!
