Thankyou !! Lol I tried drawing Dean in the same pose ( like this) three times. The first one I rated it as a slight pass--The second time...complete Faliure. Pfft he looked deformed!! But the third time...I think it looks great! Once I learn how to get a Watermark I'll diffidently post it up. Of course , Your looks a lot more professional. o3o

I'm just going to keep practicing my sketching and pencil drawings , And soon enough i'm sure I'll get better at it. ^^

Glad it turned out great . On the submit artwork page, once you have uploaded a file you are given the extra option to add a DA watermark if you'd like. You can also choose the display size of the image etc. Will totally stop filling up the comments section now...Haha.

Thankyou very much for your kind comments! Honestly, drawing from reference is a matter of repetition and practice. I make it as easy as I can for myself in the beginning - I always make the photo black and white and up the contrast a little so that the tones I need to sketch are a little more defined. I also tend to do the opposite of a lot of drawing tutorials and start with the darkest elements. (Especially with details such as eyes and lips.) This helps me define the shape. In terms of lips specifically, its important to draw what you see and not what we expect lips to look like. Lips can be seriously odd shapes from different angles!! To help with this you could try just drawing lips, over and over without looking at your paper. Follow with your pencil at the same time your eye follows the line of the photograph, without looking at your drawing. The lines will be a bit off but the shape will be more true to what is there.

If all else fails (and sometimes this happens when I draw!!) try dividing your photograph reference into a 2cm grid. This means you can focus on drawing one square at a time and makes it a lot easier to capture a likeness.

Thank you !! That does help. I used to be obsessed with drawing photos , Then coloring them in , Until I realized sometimes , Just black and white drawings look more professional/More impressing at times. I have been recently practicing drawing people--Which I originally suck at, Because I usually draw animals and scenery-- And practicing my shading.
With drawing tutorials I have done exactly the opposite of what you say you do. ^^

I'm diffidently going to keep this in mind. Especially the drawing in a grid. Most of the time when I draw , I start in one place , then jump to another , then another. I'm all over the place!! D: But i'm going to try this. Thank you so much! And i'll be trying to get some of my drawings up soon enough , And start doing some work on my Profile. (I just realized My reply is probabaly longer/as long as yours o_O)

Glad to help a little bit! Drawing can be a seriously frustrating business at times! But massively rewarding too (especially here on DA ). It's a good community to pick up tips and advice. Once your work is up definitely add it to relevant groups to get some feedback! I'm learning all the time .
