based on my experience, i interpret it as a need to exist on a higher mental plane than most other people, whom they may scornfully dismiss as the "herd" or "sheeple" with set ways of thinking. ultimately, they want to be unique in perspective and character since that justifies them not having to attend to their other need, which is to know as much about the intricacies of the world's people as possible. because if the gemini believes that they are truly unique, they are more likely to develop some sort of egotistical complex that makes them more *disinterested* in other's points of view ("no one is as interesting as I am"). it's really a way to conserve energy and prevent it from being scattered in too many directions at once, and everyone knows Gemini energy is very prone to being scattered. quite reminiscent of Aquarian energy but more frequently frenetic and more self-contradictory at times

Well, you are only Sun in Gemini. You also have other signs to consider, which is your moon sign, venus sign, mercury sign (especially because your Sun Sign is ruled by Mercury, and depending on what is situated makes the difference as to whether you are social. If you are Taurus Mercury or Cancer Mercury you might be more introverted. If you are Cancer Venus you might especially be anti-social. Just a thought. I've done a lot of research on this topic.

maybe this could provide a hint as to why i often feel very uncomfortable in social situations! i've been confused on which factors in my natal chart have been contributing to this since i have a stellium (4 planets or more in a single sign) in Gemini consisting of inner planets (sun, moon, venus, and mars), but my mercury is in Cancer, and since Gemini is ruled by mercury, its placement in the chart is crucial to how the personality is manifested, as you mentioned.

also, just in case you referred to "anti-social" as having a connotation of "very shy" or "withdrawn", i wanted to briefly point out that this is not accurate. Antisocial personality disorder is common in psychopaths and sociopaths, in which there is a high disregard for how the consequences of their actions will affect other people. i think what you may have meant instead was something along the lines of "asocial", which describes someone who isn't interested in social interaction

I use the anti-social word to describe a person who does not want to be around people. Asocial by definition can describe a person that avoids social interaction or hostile/inconsiderate of others according to the dictionary definition.  Typically both words are cut from the same cloth.  Being anti-social can actually be normal and is only indicative of a disorder when the feeling becomes excessive.  In the dictionary definition anti-social can be described this way: not sociable; not wanting the company of others.  Also another definition is contrary to the laws and customs of society; devoid of or antagonistic to sociable instincts or practices.  I often describe myself as anti-social because I don't really like being around people.  But I do have social anxiety.  So that can cause a person to be anti-social or even asocial.  

But just to be clear I'm not saying you have a disorder or anything. You're just not sociable, which could have a lot to do with your ruling planet.  You might also have a withdrawn or aloof rising sign as well.  The rising sign describes our personality, how we interact with the world around us.  I have Scorpio rising which kind of makes me withdrawn in public situations and secretive.  And depending on what planets you have in the first house will depend on the type of personality you have.  The sun describes your core character, while the rising is your personality.  Just another tidbit if you're interested.
