Description
A little comic, in which Tadashi lives but its not all rainbows and unicorns. He feels guilty about Callaghan dying, but also afraid of letting Hiro knows he’s having nightmares and flashbacks. When Hiro feels like Tadashi is drifting away, he turns to Baymax for support, finding the essence of Tadashi that he misses.
I think they’re sitting on the roof of their house in the last panel. Idk, I just wanted to draw something a little more interesting than just a line to show the surface they were sitting down on.
Kind of related to my fanfic, but I haven’t written this scene yet.

This is kind of the direction I wish the movie had taken instead. Not that the movie is bad, but I just think it would have been better if Tadashi was kept alive and different issues were explored ;_;
Like guilt: Guilt is something that isn't addressed a lot; and it ought to be, because many people don't know how bad guilt can effect someone.
This sort of issue would have been perfect to explore with Tadashi, a strong, firm, down to earth person. It would have been cool to see the guilt slowly eating away at him, eventually turning him so angry that he even snaps back at his little brother

I knooow I feel like they just killed him off because most superhero origin stories start with the death of a loved one. As if Hiro doesn't need some other motivation to stop Yokai.
I also heard that as a character, Tadashi would've been too boring to be kept alive, since he's such a good person; but as you can see from this comic, I think otherwise. Grief is a great topic to explore, but I think guilt is an even harder one, especially for kids. How do you tell right from wrong? How do you choose between a bad thing and a worse thing (in this case, choosing to stay with Hiro and letting Callaghan die, or trying to save Callaghan, only knowing that had you succeeded, you would've failed and abandoned Hiro for someone else).
It's very mature in that way, exploring a world where not everything is in black and white, and I guess Disney probably wouldn't go that dark for an animated family movie.

I just feel Disney just went for the cliché story to make things easier. If you look at some of the early story drafts, they're pretty cool! Like one was about how Yokai (Callaghan) was the leader of an underground gang. Yama would also have a gang, led by three henchwomen, only they would flip flop back and forth to working with Yokai, and back to Yama. Sounds awesome 8D But wh down to it, it does sound pretty dark for a kids movie, and I bet Disney worried that they would look like they were promoting gang violence.
See people think Tadashi is too perfect with no flaws; but I beg to differ. Remember, we see Tadashi's character through Hiro's eyes. So we see him how Hiro sees him.
But yeah I always say that Disney took the easy way out and just focused way too much on the emotion, and less on what it was supposed to be - A super hero story

I agree. I've seen those images and I love the ideas behind them (especially the roller-blading Fujitas), which I only saw after watching the movie. I'm disappointed that Disney didn't add more backstory to the movie/city, because I think it would've greatly amplified its presence. I would've like to see the city that the heroes live in, and want to protect.
Tadashi just didn't have enough time to 'grow' as a character. We see his baseline as represented in the movie, almost exclusively how he interacts with Hiro and their friends, and it creates a very positive image that of course has hundreds of fans falling love (heehee). I personally want to see what he's like on his own, when Hiro or anyone else isn't around for him to protect or help.
I guess that's kind of why I'm writing my BH6 fanfic - not just for Tadashi Lives and all it implies, but because I want to add that gang Yokai has, and expand upon the illegal bot-fighting tournaments. I especially like the idea of Hiro getting in over his head with one or both gangs, an needing to be saved/fight his way out with newly acquired Baymax. I love superhero origin stories, and if they make a sequel, I sincerely hope they bring Tadashi back (even if it ruins the lesson from the last movie. But I don't care!)

Agreed! I don't think we got enough of Tadashi's character...Hey did you know he was originally going to be part of the Big Hero 6 team? If you go to his page on Disney Wiki, there's even concept art of his battle armour!

If they make a sequel, I'll be happy if they bring Tadashi back. But since Disney have dug themselves a hole by putting in that message from the first movie, they'll have to think of something clever.

I've written five (six?) chapters to the fic so far. I think you can find it in my gallery somewhere (in the BH6 folder). I should probably update it, its been cold for a few months now.
Yeah, I'm not sure how they can do it. I imagine if he did come back, he'd have powers or something, or no memories - just different enough for Hiro to still mourn the brother he lost in the fire, but happy to have him back nonetheless. At least, that's how I'd do it (besides just not killing him off at all lol).

Oh yeah if they bring Tadashi back I would prefer if he was normal, but obviously with injuries. The whole ''come back as villian'' has been done too much

But yeah if they have something where Tadashi comes back right in the middle of Big Hero 6 fighting this threat, that would be pretty cool (and funny in some places)

Poor Tadashi, he's taking it too hard on himself, and Hiro doesn't even know what to do.

In my mind, Tadashi doesn't want Hiro to know anything is wrong, doesn't want Hiro to think his older brother is "weak" in any way, but he doesn't realize that what he's doing is damaging for the both of them. And, of course, Hiro misinterprets what's going on and feels even more helpless.
But will it ever be okay again?!
