Description
The second and final generation of the Silver Shadow, the Shadow II was built primarily to abide by the stringent American road safety legislation that was enacted in the 1970's. Chrome bumpers were replaced by composite, the ditch lights had to be positioned at a certain height (in this case underneath the bumper) and there were various other modifications made internally to make the car acceptable for the US market.

Many of these developments however were done as part of testbed schemes in the design of the newer Silver Spirit range that was being worked on throughout the late 1970's, added to with many design features found in the Camargue and in 1980 this combination came together to form the replacement for the 15 year old Shadow range.
