Description Well, since 'Testing Testing 1, 2, 3' released, a few of my headcanons regarding the history of the Wonderbolts have had to be scrapped. Some still fit, just with a little adjustment. And a few costume designs have actually becoming more supported by canon. In this case, the WW1/WW2 type flying cap and jacket combo that I had always planned Rainbow to model became more plausible thanks to Commander Easyglider's uniform.

With regards to the suits not matching up with the uniforms that we've been shown, I don't think it's that much of a big deal. This series is about the sorts of outfits the Wonderbolts would wear in combat or during performances, whereas the uniforms Rarity shows off look much more like ceremonials or dress blues, the sort of thing you'd wear on parade as opposed to on a battlefield. Besides which, we've already seen Spitfire and Soarin wearing uniforms other than the flight suits they were during shows.

Also, it occurs to me that Spitfire, with a name like her's, would have been a much better choice for the uniform based on a WW2 pilot. Why do the really good ideas always come too late?

So, yeah. Rainbow Dash, rocking the 1940s look, and a headcanon justification rant from me.

Why do the really good ideas always come too late?-Quoted by TheAndyMac

I have to disagree, not all good ideas come too late, maybe mis-timed in some instances, but when all is said and done, if good ideas show themselves, at least they even existed.

I enjoy how you leaned closer to the actual anatomy in these pics, giving the wings and hooves a little more structure and detail

Aye, but sometimes it feels like it

It's interesting to try a more realistic style with ponies, not least because proper hooves and ankles can be a little tricky to draw sometimes.

Well, excluding certain ponies in certain situations, skin-tight latex can have its quirks at points.

Indeed it can. Though one has to wonder; if ponies normally don't wear clothes at all, why is it that putting clothes on them somehow makes them less decent?

Because saddles and leotards are sexy.

Because covering up what would usually be visible can have the effect of drawing more attention towards it. And in some cases, the outfits specifically draw the observer's eye towards those parts of the equine anatomy.

Also, I imagine, many of these garments generate such a response simply by their very presence, and in a similar manner to what you say, cause us to fill in the anatomical blanks with our imagination. After all, if the clothing is covering something, surely there must be something there to cover.

Exactly. A similar effect can be observed in humans, where a person dressed in a particular style of garment can be seen as more alluring than if they were naked.

This obviously being the superior uniform to all the others.

Have I said yet that you are one of the most talented pony artists I regularly have contact with? Because you are.

In which case, I'd feel compelled to ask just how many pony artist's you're regularly in contact with.

But seriously, though, thanks.

Well, you and Seto. But you still art really well.

(Did I ever say how I love how easily you can turn any noun into a verb in English? Because I do.)
