Born 72 years ago in Sphinx, a land protected by Baihu, one of his generation's Four Pirate Emperors, Newgate's early life took a devastating turn when his home country became impoverished. As an orphan, he witnessed the demise of his parents, who spoke out against the metal elemental powers of Admiral Ginhebi, an agent of the oppressive One Pantheon Regime. With Sphinx at the mercy of external forces, Xebec D. Rocks intervened to protect the island, forging a connection between Sphinx, Newgate, and the formidable pirate known as Whitebeard.

Whitebeard, initially aiding Xebec out of gratitude and seeking revenge against Ginhebi for his parents' death, soon grew apprehensive about the catastrophic consequences of reintroducing Gods onto Earth. Fearing the potential havoc that Xebec's plans might unleash, he became a secret ally of Garp D. Monkey and Roger D. Gol, working behind the scenes to thwart the Rocks Pirates' ambitions and prevent the catastrophe at God's Valley.

When Vista, one of his crewmates, fell victim to the Heartless illness, Whitebeard utilized Xebec's notes to find a cure. Through a twist of fate, he discovered the reincarnation of Mary Magdalene and successfully cured Vista by transforming him into a half-flower petal mutant. Unbeknownst to Whitebeard, this act led to him being unwittingly dubbed the Moon Pirate King.

Whitebeard later formed the Whitebeard Pirates, inspired by his personal hero, the legendary pirate Blackbeard. His dedication to his crew was tested when Ace D. Portgas faced execution, leading Whitebeard to confront the Marines in a desperate attempt to save him. Despite his efforts, Ace perished, and Whitebeard met his own end during the Battle of Marineford.

However, Whitebeard's journey did not conclude with his death. In Limbo, he encountered representatives from both Heaven and Helheim. Tempted with the prospect of joining Heaven's forces, Whitebeard made a deal to take his sons Ace and Thatch's place in Helheim, where he was bestowed the title of Emperor of Helheim by Lucifer, Hades, and Persephone.

Despite being a Sinner, Whitebeard ascended to the position of the strongest Emperor of Helheim, surpassing even Charon and Cerberus in power. In the afterlife, he founded Newgate Industries, becoming a financial powerhouse and the CEO.
