This picture is part of the Artrix Avatar Month, see the AAM seal of approval.Another Illustrate the Quote entry, and the quote was simply "anime". Oh boy, if they only knew what they were getting themselves into.
No, seriously, it turned into a figurative bloodbath between the ASN artists. In the end, it was me against the hilarious and talented ~dinglehopper , and I only won by a fraction. You can view her entry here . It's fun.
Picture pretty much speaks for itself if you are familiar with anime and its sub-culture, especially when it comes to the practice of fan-subbing. Everything from bad choice of fonts and their colours, excessive advertising of various IRC channels and usernames, elaborate annotations from the subbers and let's not forget the subject matter itself.

Sure, I like that the fansubs are out there, it's just how some of their makers go overboard with all the unnecessary extras.
One dubber picked a huge blocky font that sometimes occupies half the screen. That's where it almost defeats the point of subbing.

luckily there are good subbers as well who simply do what is needed to understand what the hell is going on
