Huh. First time I saw this pic, I thought she was holding a pump action instead of a double barrel...

Yea, this is a picture that is begging for a second take with proper references and what have you.

Shouldn't the gun have her cutie mark on it? To show, like, who's gun is it?

It's a common theme I see in FPS mods and I think it's incredibly tacky. Just because they all have their own logo isn't much of a reason to plaster it on everything.
Nothing inherently wrong with that, just my take on it.

I love everything about this picture. The pose, the look on her face, and especially the shotgun. It kinda reminds me of the FG-42.

There is some overlap, but I do see your point. As for the feet, I don't know, they just don't sit well with me, they seem slightly unfeminine and I'm just not feeling it.
Wow, I don't remember giving such advice, but I do agree with my former self; post sketches, no matter how bad they are. DeviantART offers unlimited storage and a place to get feedback, that, and you have nothing to lose in terms of reputation, use that to your advantage.

Mane six, not background. More like... co-star amongst a large cast. Or... supporting? Meh. She is no background pony for sure though.
Regardless, this is awesome. She would have a shotgun.

I enjoy the shotgun reference (because Im a hick and what hick doesnt have a shotgun) but the pose is wrong. If you look at it (unless she is sitting on her boot but that would still create less of a surface area) when she fires it all that energy will pretty much topple her over. She should be on one knee with her elbow resting on her other knee for more stability. Sorry I went on kind of a rant. Anyway love the picture but for me the pose is kinda wrong.

It's actually very appreciated, for one; I live in the Netherlands where guns are considered legendary items from another realm (unless you're a criminal of some sort) and two; it actually refers to the actual pose, opposed to the shotgun for which I explicitly stated that I just did whatever.
While I do have some hands-on experience using an actual shotgun, which ironically was because some Pennsylvanian sheriff needed to get rid of some excess ammo, it was over ten years ago. I tried a wide variety of guns, and the shotgun struck me as not particularly taxing on the user. Still, I'll admit that I was more focused on creating a cool pose and making sure it was balanced than making it technically accurate. If this piece has thought me one thing, it's that technical accuracy is very important when it comes to guns, because people can't help but notice it.

It is a cool very cool pose and you know she is one of those people/ponies that could actually pull it off.
I am glad that I did not offened because #1 it is a beautiful piece of art and #2 I can draw or color anything that amazing lol.

I prefer the 'over and under' version of the double barrel shotguns, were the barrels are stacked vertically than sitting side by side. For those times you want to shoot their toes and their face with one pull of the trigger.

I've actually stumbled upon a conversation about this. What are the pros and cons of both aiming styles?
I know only that with one eye closed you get more accuracy, but at a cost of awareness of your surroundings and depth perception of your target.

Emcha In reply to jindra555 [2013-02-11 14:15:17 +0000 UTC]
it's a complicated issue.
neither is inherently more accurate than the other.
with closing one eye you get rid of the distraction that eye gives, removing the double picture and letting you focus properly. the downside is it tends to mess up your eye focus to varying degrees when you open it again. an easy fix for this is to simply cover your off eye with hair or an eye patch. same reason the optometrist tells you to "cover" one eye when you read the eye chart rather than "close" it.
with both eyes open you gain the depth perception and peripheral vision, but it's utility differs according to the sighting devices used.
-with any magnified optic it's going to be rather uncomfortable and distracting, with one eye seeing a magnified view of the field and your off eye only seeing the side of the scope.
-with irons it's good for quick shots at close range.
-red dots, also called Close Combat Optics, are made for use with both eyes open. they compliment your vision rather than obstruct it. although with these aiming is pretty much the reverse of what you learn at the beginner level: instead of focusing on the sight and putting the target behind it, you focus on the target and bring the red donut/dot/crosshair onto it. this requires better hand-eye coordination, but is VERY useful in its intended area.
both have their uses, but typically both eyes open is the better choice.
