Description I went to the Talyllyn Railway for my birthday and I got a guidebook that had some interesting photo's in that I thought I'd upload here because I don't think some of them are on the internet

One of the photos was of the Talyllyn's original engine No. 5, known by the railwaymen as "The Lawnmower", it was built by David Curwen in 1952 for engineering work using an a slate wagon chassis, the engine from a Ford Model T and the transmission from Tom Rolt's(the then General Manager of the railway) narrow boat, it's life however was short as the transmission was too weak for railway use and it was withdrawn in 1953 following a gearbox failure, it was dismantled and its chassis is still being used on the railway as a flatbed truck

Photo belongs to the Talyllyn Railway

I just realized, Duck's line from Small Railway Engines ("But they're tru-I mean they're not like ours!") fits perfectly for this picture!
