Weekly Sketch #182

I drew this character once before, but wearing sunglasses. I drew his wife, Maru, earlier on in this series:
2021 Sketch Series 10/52 - Mary

I picture him here seeing Mary for the first time and being struck by her beauty; all he can do at first is stand there and remain mute until he gets the nerve to introduce himself to her. The context I'm picturing is that it is the summer of 2000, putting them both in their late teens. He is helping his father run a surf shop on a beach in southern California after he has graduated high school, and he notices Mary with some of her other friends. He is very nervous at first just walking up to the group and introducing himself, but Mary ends up taking a liking to him, and four years later, they get married. Their first child, Malcolm, was born to them in 2005, and their second, Kendra, was born in 2009. Unlike many other backstories I've made, this one is relatively free of drama (up until Kendra joins Team Mischance).
