All the following text is from the WIP submission, except for the song link at the end. This is also another traditional/digital hybrid, and the blue streaks are meant to be fog. I was also made aware that this doesn't look quite like the creature I intended it to look like (fennec fox), so feel free to pretend I got it right. Thanks!

I did my best to make her look like a fennec fox, but with my own "stylings." I was conscious of the length of the muzzle, making the inside of the ear really furry, giving her a thick, bushy tail (part of which is cropped off right now), and making her limbs stubbier than the typical kind of fox people think of (like a red fox). Any suggestions to help improve her look are appreciated!

Anyways, her name is Sonia Day, and she becomes involved in Noah's life around the time he becomes king. The months just before his coronation were some of the cruelest the kingdom had ever witnessed, and Sonia was just one of the many victims. Noah's parents were doubling down on their unjust treatment of herbivorous animals, often attacking and eating them in broad daylight when possible. It got so bad that all the carnivorous animals who had herbivore friends provided their own dens and homes as shelters from those tyrants, and Sonia was one of those protectors. She and her younger brother did what they could to keep some of the smaller and vulnerable creatures safe, but being small themselves, they could only protect the even smaller creatures, like mice and rats. Their operation morphed unofficially into an orphanage, as there would be dozens of these tiny creatures left parentless thanks to Noah's parents consuming and scarfing them down on their hunts. It also got so bad that even certain carnivores weren't totally safe; Noah's mother, who was the queen and head monarch, decreed that any meat-eaters who were found sheltering any of their fellow plant-eating citizens would be either tortured or be killed and eaten like a lowly prey animal. Sonia and her brother knew they were breaking this unjust law, and as far as carnivores go, they weren't very high up (they're actually omnivores). Fennec foxes are small, and either of Noah's parents could easily kill them. A Scyroar isn't quite big enough to swallow an adult fennec fox whole, but it could easily and quickly rip it apart and consume the entire creature, bones and all, in under fifteen seconds if it were really hungry. Thus, Sonia had to be scared for her and her brother's life, on top of the little rodents they were protecting and caring for together. She is eighteen in this scene, so despite the little orphanage she has going, she sees herself as more of a "big sister" to the little mice and rats, and loves to play with them and take their minds off of the fatal circumstances their living in. Her brother, age sixteen, also likes to do so, but he sometimes lacks sense, and this is where this particular drawing comes in. One early spring morning in 1758, Sonia is still asleep, but her brother is awake, as are a few of the rodents. They urge him about taking them to the nearby flower bed to play and scamper about, even though it's unsafe to go outside anymore. Sonia already told them no one was to go outside unless it was absolutely necessary, as the king and queen might be on a hunt, and spot them. However, the brother caves in to their pleading, and he agrees to go outside with them and let them play, but just for a little bit. Not long after, Sonia is woken up by her brother's cries for help from outside, and she runs to save him. She sees the king, Noah's father, with his paw firmly planted on her brother's tail, keeping him from escaping. The mice and rats that were playing managed to scamper away due to the king's focus on the fox, and knowing the foolish canine would make for a more satisfying breakfast than a few insignificant rodents. Sonia begs and pleads for the king to release him, even going so far as to offer herself in his place. The terrible Scyroar, seeing an opportunity, tells Sonia that if she meets with him again in his and the queen's den, and states her case before them both, reasons why he shouldn't be punished for breaking the law, and convinces them both that she really loves her brother, then he'll let him go. The king flies back to his own den, the brother suspended from his jaws, and Sonia chases after them as quickly as she can. She runs for hours, with day turning into night, and the full moon gleaming through thick clouds. The den is far away, but every step is worth it for family. Of course, she had to leave all the other mice and rats back home, so she could only hope they could keep themselves safe for the time being. The background will be digital, and will be of a night sky filled with dark clouds, but with a full moon beaming through an opening. Sonia will be colored traditionally, as I really want another stab at another traditional/digital hybrid.

At this same time, Noah himself is working hard to convince the royal council that his mother should not be queen anymore on the grounds alone that she has openly legalized and mandated the mass-slaughter of the majority of her citizens, and that she herself is committing many of these killings. Even though he knows he's already next in line to the throne, he's trying to make this happen sooner because he wants the death and mayhem his parents are causing to stop, and despite trying to get them to change their ways, they won't, but have only gotten worse. Thus, Noah has to make the case against his own mother to make things right again. On the other hand, his parents accuse him of trying to stage a coup and just wants his power right now, and that his professed care for all citizens is just a show. They resort to slander, but Noah keeps cool and doesn't buckle under their lies. The council, who has the power to remove and install the monarch, is convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that Noah's mother shouldn't rule anymore, and Noah is made king on his 21st birthday (the youngest that one could take the throne in this kingdom). In the time leading up to this, nearly all the citizens knew what Noah was about, and they wanted him so badly to be king as soon as possible. On June 18, 1758, he was coronated that morning, and almost every citizen was there, including Sonia. She really liked and trusted him, knowing that thanks to him, she and everyone else she cared about wouldn't have to live in fear anymore. A few months later, Noah finds out about her and her brother's efforts to protect innocent lives, and he invites them for a banquet and overnight stay in his den (which is more of a palace, but in a hillside; it's massive enough to house several families). At this point, she had started to develop a hopeless crush on him; Noah's enthusiasm, relatability, humor, playfulness, and care that she saw won her over, and that night, as they are all going to sleep, she wishes that she was a Scyroar too, or anything that would make it possible for both of them to marry and start a family in the future. Not only can regular animals and Pokemon not mate/reproduce together, but she was also way too small for that kind of relationship to work out between them (she's eleven inches tall and three pounds, whereas he's five feet tall and around 400 pounds). She never tells Noah her feelings about him (as she knew that'd be very awkward), but she does curl up against his chest and falls into a comfortable sleep there. Noah notices this, and puts a foreleg about her, like a light hug. He interpreted her action as simply wanting company and warmth, given how difficult her life had been he last few months, but he never found out she wanted something more, and really, it's better that way.

So, I don't have a lot for Sonia nor her brother yet, but their stories will develop. Sonia's romantic feelings for Noah do fade as she grows up and meets another fennec she likes, but she never stops admiring him and being thankful for putting an end to the carnage his parents caused.
