An Excellent amount of various shades of blue Miss Cau, I give you absolute props on Aris's eye color, makes me think of the freaking moon at night where its all lit up at night.
But the guns....WOW!! Have a sorta Halo-Esq design to them especially with the grips having those curved bayonets attached to them.
No...question about the perfect design layout.
I'm actually truly surprised your not a CG Artist or a Concept Artist as you have the pure potential talent to become one. You an Miss Zerna both have the true potential and talent to become Concept Artists.
Other than that Excellent Work!

Did you use Sai paint or photoshop ?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TheCau In reply to SweetSinster [2014-07-21 01:55:59 +0000 UTC]
Everything I do is usually 99-101% Sai.
I don't have Photoshop but I very rarely use Gimp for extra effects and stuff on certain pieces. .D.
Sai is my favorite art program aaah~

Really? Wow. That's amazing. Half the things I see in your gallery looks like it's been under a lot of rendering , filters and sharpen to give it that clean cut look. Everything is Sai? Wow.
Who knew.
I use sai buuuut I'm still learning how to shade properly. Any tips on how you do your clean lineart ?

TheCau In reply to SweetSinster [2014-07-21 03:45:30 +0000 UTC]
Lol, yep! Just about everything you see in my more recent stash of art is all Sai. ;u;
I'm really meticulous and persnickety about my lines and art so I have a workflow that doesn't exactly work for everybody else but it works just great for me. You can figure out what works best for you but keep in mind that I'm a layer fiend and most of my art usually means that I have anywhere from 10-200+ layers total, lol.
But anyways, about 95% of my lines are all done freehand with a very bold, heavy line that you'd find in your pen tool.For long lines and softer curves, I use the S-7 stabilizer and then use the 10 stabilizer for just about everything else. The 10 eliminates a lot of the wiggly stuff you get if you were to be running around in PS or with a stabilizer of 0 which is your true lines. For inanimate objects, I sometimes slap down a special lineart layer or two and move the points around until I achieve my desired effect.
I always section things off, too. Heads get their own layer. Eyes, horns/antennae, shoulders, body get their own layer. Shirts get their own layer and etc. I usually end up with anywhere from 2-15 lineart layers and then I merge specific layers down with one another to eliminate some of the clutter. Once I have the smaller detail lines done, I go back through on a separate layer with a heavier, thicker line and then outline the very edges of the character/objects. Outlining with a bolder line draws your viewer's attention into the detailed "meat" of your character and it also makes everything look 3000 times cooler.
Once I'm done with lineart, I stuff it all into a labeled folder, turn it into my selection source, and then start slamming down flatshades and stuff beneath it and take off again. vuv

Holdu cau xD I didn't expect you to write so mych, but that's awesome you did!
I also many layers but at times forget to label them so I have to go back and see which is which. It's a real hassle. I learned about the stabilizer, but I'm still a bit shaky once it come to doing the line. So it comes out to werid so I do it a few times to get it right. I usually like my work better on sketches then digital to be honest since I'm not that great at it yet.
How long have you been doing digital art ?

Sorry about all the earlier comment. I didn't read over since I was half asleep xD fail. But usually when I comment or ask a question on artist well known in a fandom they don't respond. So I was shocked that you did xD
Ehhhh I had sai for about.... 6 months and photoshop for 2 years. And I'm still shaky, but I gotta keep going. But I can't I lost my tablet pen :"D and it cost to $66-100 dollars. A lady broke xD but I guess ima go back to sketching. Blahs.

Dude the guns are friggin awesome!!! Hey, I know you probably get this a lot, but how much is one of your commissions worth?

TheCau In reply to varletlegion [2014-07-20 23:30:58 +0000 UTC]
Thank ya! <3
As of right now, I'm currently working on two more commissions at the moment and I want to get them out of the way before I take on any new work. But here's the pricing sheet I had for this batch of commissions: thecau.deviantart.com/journal/…
The prices most likely will be updated in the future but I'll try not to get too expensive and I'll try to work with commissioners to get a price that we're both comfortable with. ;u;

Just points for now. That'll probably change in the future, though.
Once I get these next two commissions done and get some more stuff done for the tournament I'm helping run, I'll probably open comms again. ;u;
