Bloody hell, this entire thing is no larger than 2 cm, is it? How did you manage to paint such a detailed cutie mark on something this small?!

A combination of years of practice, a really thin brush, and some beer to steady the hand.

On another note, you intended for the mane six's mechs to operate as one company/group right?

Yeah. The normal 'Mech unit is a lance of four 'Mechs, and three lances make a company (12 'Mechs total). The ComStar and Word of Blake factions operate "Level I" units of six 'Mechs, but they're almost always painted white.

On the other hand, it's not uncommon for mercenaries or special forces to have a non-standard regimental structure. The Knights of Equestria may just operate on such an unusual system.

Works for me. For all we know, the fluff could involve Celestia sending her personal best through an interdimensional portal to prevent something bad from happening to Equestria. Ever thought of writing something up that details how well, if at all, they work as a team of mech pilots?

It would be a fan sequel to the fanfic The Thesselonica Legacy. According to the (surprisingly logical) Equestrian back-history the guy came up with, the ponies could give the Iotians a run for their money when it comes to technological and cultural copycatting.

Of course, they never got a whole BattleMech to copy but it's possible from the archives they got the capabilities of Age of War and non-Royal Star League equipment and then MAGIC'd the rest. This would also count as built-in plot shielding.

I hadn't thought of writing something up, though now I'm vaguely tempted. I don't like pony grimdark, so plot shielding would definitely be a must...

As little as I know about either, just know that what you're describing seems to have tremendous potential and if you ever do decide to write it, I'd be very interested in reading it!

As for grimdark pony, I have similar opinion, since I've also been trying to come up with a good gundam/pony crossover and one of the biggest problems is trying to blend Gundam's seriousness and grimness with pony's optimism.

That's what made The Thessalonica Legacy (yeah, it's novel length, so it goes in italics) so good. Battletech isn't grimdark, but it's definitely gritty (especially more so with the nigh-unrestricted nuclear warfare of the recent Jihad plotline) and yet the crossover managed to stay true to both.

I'll think about it. Probably ask Legacy's author first, though, just to keep everything kosher.

Wait a second, do you mean to say that the Thessalonica Legacy is a Battletech/Pony crossover to begin with!? Well, I know what I'll be studying aside from school work for the next week!

Indeed it is, and I highly recommend it.

Just read the first chapter, and it's a bit more convoluted than I expected. I'm sure this is just my lack of any prior knowledge in the Battletech universe, but it could be a little nauseating at times. I have a feeling that if I just kept at it, I could possibly pick up the little details bit by bit.

There are effectively a billion factions in Battletech, and first-chapter shock is common amongst neophytes. Keep going!

Will do! Having been through Gundam and Asimovian fictions, I think I can handle another fuckhuge universe!

Ah, hahaha...... it's a little embarrassing, but of all of Asimov's works, Foundtation series is among the few that I haven't touched!

I know... I'll get around to them one of these days! One of these days.

Though I did do a little reading on the Mule, and blimey, he's quite a character isn't he? Or is it a she? Regardless, I'd love to see how Asimov used him in the actual story.

He, though it doesn't do him a bit of good. Like I said, the Mule is best pony.
