Description Carcharhinus melanopterus (After the Greek words Melas=Black and pteron=wing/fin)

-Avg. Length: 1.8m (Approx. 6 feet)
-Easily identified by the blackened tips of their dorsal, pectoral and caudal fin. They differ in size from the larger Blacktip Shark and will also have a slightly white band below the black tip on their dorsal.
-Part of the Groundshark order, typically spending a great deal of time near the sea floor, mostly reefs as the name suggests.
-Mostly found in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, near reliable sources of prey.
-Often found in larger numbers, are considered the more social of the Requiem Sharks.
-They tend to be placid around humans, with around 14 reported attacks ever recorded, with none being fatal.

Could be fun to swim with these guys, provided there's plenty of fish around to keep them busy.
