Great capture! The lighting makes its wing feathers look like they're made of steel--I think you picked the perfect moment to take the picture.

Many thanks yes lighting is everything, i tried to line this up as straight and direct as possible
to show off the iridescense effect of his plumage.

Thanks thats where my fascination comes from with the corvids, the Iridescence effects there plumage have make them excellent subjects
to shoot in varied light conditions and related angles, making them look varied colours and textures, even metal.

Cheers for the link i checked it out. i can certainly vouch for a lot of what he was saying, especially the recognition part.
this bird i have been photographing certainly knows who i am and will come to me on sight, he often sits waiting on a flagpole
for me too, im sure he has clocked my arrival time too.
