Monochrome is a nice shift form the norm, plus it saves time. I've seen some artists stick with a certain color, but I'd say that having a certain hue applicable to a certain pony would be nice. Or even just that certain pony in that color (like this lavender and Octavia) and another pony with it's own color in the same comic. Like a... reading rainbow?
