They say that we've only explored 5% of the ocean floor. Perhaps it would be best if we didn't look too far, eh? Lovecraft might have said that his work was never meant to be interpreted as anything other than fantasy, but you never know...
Epic work here, giving Cthulhu all of his mysterious, sinister appeal and completely realizing how screwed his most recent discoverers are. I just have one question: in the background, bottom left quarter, there are some vague shapes in the water that don't look organic; the explorer's ships, maybe? I'm just curious as to why they would be all the way over there, if that's what the shapes are; if they're not the explorer's ships, then what are they?
And yes, I realize that it's kind of crappy of me to accept Cthulhu and futuristic deep-sea divers, but get antsy over some black stuff in the background. Humor me.

Niice. I have Lovecraft's book of horror stories. But the stories arent very scary. Especially not the Cthulu one. I don't get how they are horror stories, but okay... anyway great piece of artwork!

He IS a Great Old One, after all, and no one likes to be known, partially or exclusively, for their age. Also, given the decreasing lack of respect that the internet is affording him lately, it's safe to say his glory days are behind him. (Going from dread god to an entire line of fanmade plushies would break any ego.) And then there's the rising real estate taxes in Rhode Island, and the suspicious glances he gets from Japanese Schoolgirls' parents...

yeah i used a picture of mud and clay on overlay and just kept duplicating it over his body
