Originally, I was going to do it all washed out and airbrushy. That's why I left the sketchy lineart alone (it was done with some ballpoint pen I had lying around). The problem was, I couldn't get that to work with the color scheme that I wanted.

I used some layers type thing that I picked up from someone's tutorial. You set the layer type to color dodge, color it all black and then lightly airbrush the desired area with white or whatever other color you want.

ok. I am gonna critique a bit on this one...bear with.


yeah the character in the back does look a bit like a boy, i think it is in the set of 'her?' chin. too firm for a girl's no matter how stubborn she is. I love all the shading and the lighting effects and whatnot... very cool, very nice indeed, but i just can't see how the girl in the front is wearing...what is that? a sheet^^? anyway, this is VERY good, although i have to say the angles on both front characters seem a bit wrong...hrmph i feel like i am ripping this to shreds. i do LOVE all the expressions and the different feelings you get from each character (i want to know the story behind these three!!) anyway, as always, take my comments with a grain of salt....and some sugar, of course^^

Well, the girl in the middle has eyes that I kinda meesed up the shape of the eyes on, so that could be why the angle looks weird.

Anyway, I might think about putting up a mini manga about one or two of them...

The first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail of this was "pretty glowy anime characters!"
